Okay, I've got a direct contact for these now and can pretty much get as many as needed (please keep it a secret though!). How many will want one? If it's going to be loads, then I'll need the money up front. Price will be about £40 each, taking into account shipping, etc. If it's any less, then I'll refund the difference, if it's any more, pay me the difference on delivery. Once fitted, these make a sizeable difference to the effectiveness of the Tanaka K98 (once you've put 1000 rounds or so through them to bed them in).
So far, people who want them are:-
Cholmley Warner.
Hopeless (4 of).
Jay.
Rich.
Del
John.
That's 9 so far! Seeing as I don't have a spare £400 or so quid laying about (well, I do, but I have to eat as well!), if you could all cough up at the December game, it would help me enormously.

Puts hand up - I want a K98 that works!

December is fine for all to give me cash or a cheques (I don't want to incur any paypal fees!). The Tanakas will be all but useless for the next couple of months anyway, so I won't be ordering until after Christmas.

I want to order these fairly soon. I'm going to order a batch of five for starters, so the first four to send me £40 will get theirs first (John has already paid). They may end up costing a bit more if I get raped by customs but I'll pay the difference and you can pay me back on delivery.
If you have to use paypal, my paypal address is @yahoo.co.uk">petee1967d@yahoo.co.uk, don't forget to add the 4% paypal rip off fee if you want to pay this way.
Paid so far are
John M.
Cholmley-Warner.
JD7.
Jay851.
Lardassmonkey.

Cheers guys. The first batch of five is all spoken for now. I'll look to order some more after this lot arrive and I see if I get screwed by customs.

That question from MuldR made me think - since I'm going to the trouble of changing the hop is it worth changing the barrel as well? AFAIK most people are using the stock barrel...

It's a case of getting hold of a decent replacement barrel to be honest. I've only ever seen 6.04 ones and that's not exactly what I'd call a tightbore for a rifle. The cost vs performance gain ratio is too low in my opinion.

Right, that's good enough for me, stock barrel it is!

Anyone actually have any idea what diameter the stock barrel is in a Tanaka?
Right, I've ordered the first batch of five now. Just a case of waiting for them to turn up and whether or not cusotms bend me over for them. I'll look to order to some more soon after this lot arrive.

yep cheers pete, just let us know if we get stung.

I've received an email from the seller telling me his paypal address is no longer valid. So, I've claimed the payment back and once it reappears in my account, I'll re-order with a bank transfer. Sorry about the delay guys. I'm having to contend with a serious language barrier with the seller as well!

Latest update. The seller no longer accpepts paypal but gave me UK bank account details I could do a bank transfer to. I attempted this via my online banking website but found out that to add a new payee, I need something called "pinsentry", basically a card reader for my debit card, like chip and pin. So, I've ordered this and am awaiting its' arrival. Once it gets here, I can order the hops (again). I suppose the good news is that we avoid paypal fees. Sorry this is taking so long chaps, I'd hoped to have had them all sent out to you by now!

It'll give me time to prep my K98, then use the Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil stock finish kit that the postman has just handed over. Total price including delivery - £16
Dell, could you do some step by step photos and write-up. I'll be interested to see before and after and the process...

David, no problem.
