Operation Autumn Fog.... ?

'Operation Autumn Mist' - the true name of the German offensive.
'Watch on the Rhine' was Hitlers decoy name to explain away army massings. He wasn't building up defensive forces though and his surprise was complete and accomplished...
BTW 'Battle of the Bulge' was coined by Churchill.
Will be great to see you there, John. To quote Webby: "If you Look at 'B49 5LR' in google maps, its the north side of the A422 from where the pointer is on the map (Big wooded area)"

Ah! Just realised, is it the Airsoft Skirmish woodland site as detailed in the link below? :-

John.
Well, it's the site USED by airsoft skirmish. It's most definitely NOT his site (although Manning would have people think it is ).

Great news, John!

Oh, also have been discussing dates & family stuff in November with my missus & I can now make the training day. Result!
We're now "on the numbers" for this, so it doesn't bother me that several people haven't replied to the 'universal' pm. Now, we have enough to put a full section in, plus a medic, with a couple of enemy. Now I can plan the format for the day!
I'll try to put some info together on basic formations before the day. Also, how do you guys feel about trying to give some (very) basic orders in German? (mainly to confuse and frighten the enemy but also because it'll be quite cool!).
I was thinking along the lines of such stuff as...
Rapid fire.
Attack left flank.
Attack right flank.
Throw grenades.
Move up the MG.
Charge!
I'm also MEGA chuffed to see so many KG SS signed up for December as well. I'm really hoping that we kick the allies collective arses and pay them back for Husky.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Absolutely, Pete! All I know is "Angriff!" - attack. And "Los, los, los!" - sort of equates to "go! go! go!"
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
If people are up for it (feel free to tell me to bollocks!), I've nicked these off a reenactors' site, we won't need them all and I don't expect everyone to learn German overnight. I just thought it would be a nice touch if we attacked and sounded like the Waffen SS! Use as little, or as much as you like of it. I've underlined the most likely to be useful phrases.
Verstanden = Understood
(Klar) Verstanden / Jawohl = clear or understood
Linker Flagel vor =Attack left flank
Rechter Flagel vor = Attack right flank
umgehen (Links /Rechts) =go around him (direction).
Maschinengewehr vor! = move the machinegun forwards.
Angriff! = Attack!/Assault!
Kette bilden = Line formation
Reihe bilden = Wide formation
Auflockern = Scatter
Schnellfeuer! =Rapid fire!
Feuerschutz! = covering fire!
Gib mir Feuerschutz = Cover me!
Wacht auf! / Alarm = watch out!
(Hand-)Granate! =Grenade!
Vorsicht! / Achtung = warning
Auf! Auf! Auf! = Out! Out! Out!
Los, Los, Los! = Go Go Go!
Steh auf = get up!
Hinlegen = lay down!
Laufschritt = run
Stellung feindfrei / gesichert = area secure.
Wir sturmen! = storm them!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I hate homework........

i always try and shout some german in game, not many reply
if we can all shout just 1 or 2 differnet phrases ,it makes the game so much more atmosperic, for BOTH sides

Hi chaps - long time - Airsoft Skirmish site I think is a paintball site isn't it? Maybe I'm wrong, but anyways I'm certainly up for it - already written on the calendar - looking forward to hooking up with you all again.
Hey Richard - the site does paintball and airsoft. Will be good to see you again.

Hi John - yeah, Emmy Wemmy Kins is a year old in 13 days to be almost precise - just about getting two teeth come through, still not crawling, but she's reaching out a lot and trying to grab anything she can get her chubby little hands on -
Up for the German phrases, too - don't think I'll be practicing them much at home though -
Just a quick thought - on the range session, are there going to be targets at various distances? Would be interesting to see how far our various guns can reach, and this would also give us a good idea of whether targets are in range in a real game. Range estimation is something that I definitely need to work on - I guess it's pretty much second nature for Sgt Heide.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
True, judging distance is second nature for me. Up until the previous post, I'd never stopped to consider it wasn't second nature for others. That's me being a bit complacent/arrogant I guess. It's a very good idea to put some targets out and also to mark their distances, so people can actually see what 20, 30, or 40 metres looks like and see what their weapons' effective range is. That's definitely added to the itinerary for the day, thanks Steiner, brilliant idea.

Not at all, Pete - it's just something that you've had to work on, and it's therefore become second nature.
Glad I mentioned it now, because I didn't want to "stick my spoke in", as it were.
