I know you are all keen as mustard to impress at the Parade and Inspection next Saturday.
I have been swatting up this weekend, poring through the manuals making sure I am familiar with the latest regulations. I know you will all do your best to give a good impression and show the world that we mean business and that our voluntary home forces work like a well oiled wheel.
My daughter took a snap with the box brownie now my uniform has been returned from the tailors and we have at last been issued with official Home Guard armbands. I can't tell you how proud I am to wear it. Now I see the photograph it reminds me to pop into the barbers on Monday for a quick short back and sides - I can't have Major Dunn thinking I'm some kind of louche.
