Why don't you check with me to see if I'm free before choosing these dates? ;-)

Ranj, just checking, are you free on the weekend of the 15/16th June? We're planning an event for that date.

Oo Oo I have a question! You say escapees should work in pairs at least, what if you are in a pair and your partner is captured?

Not really considered it, as you should really try to avoid it. However, there will be in-game RV points and timings that may allow a single escapee to link up with others.

Or you could just man-up and go it alone... :giggle:

I am tempted by both sides in equal measure... I must search my soul.

For clarity, I've amended the H&S recommendation to work in pairs. There is the potential to be 'out there' for 24 hours so players might feel they have a better chance to avoid capture and meet objectives with mutual support. Or they might not. As HS says, single players will have to link up with others throughout the game anyway - making plans together might be the way to survive and get to a port. Just don't do a 'Jedburgh' and get the whole lot of you caught at once! :slap:

Germans have the potential to both if you get caught!

In any case, should it get too much the Germans can always surrender. Just make the effort first else we won't have a game. :giggle:

Oh my what an interesting idea for a game (and a chance to use the training day to scout the lie of the land  ). Im glad you have given the chance for captured Germans to then become Brits as being fat and 50+ I probably wont last long.

I presume that this is a full 24 hour event without the usual break?

Is there anywhere for the Germans to escape too? ie get home, or is it just a case of avoiding capture for 24 hours?

If all the Germans are in civvies does that mean auto capture or can you attempt to blag your way out of trouble, luckilly I speak very good English for a Bavarian :giggle:

Any Germans fancy doubling up with me, dont offer if your young and fit cause I'll just slow you down :slap:

Is there no plans for a social Friday night. I quite like the idea of being marched down the pub for some Fisch und chips by the home guard. :D

As Germans do you want us to store all our food & drink in our packs or can we take some with us? Just wondering if we have to rely one meeting our contacts to get supplies.

Do we assume we'll get our packs for the night no matter what or is there a chance we'll have to tough it out without it?

Firstly, fitness isn't a major issue - while the Germans will be on the run it doesn't mean they will be running for 24hrs :D - just do what you need to do to avoid capture.
The Germans will have to reach objectives but they will only have reached 'home' if they survive the weekend uncaught.
The escape is well planned - there will be forged documentation so you can try to blag your way out of a close encounter. (See the real event for ideas of personas!)

We don't have the site of Friday I'm afraid. Brits will have a social on Saturday along with captured Germans  - Germans on the run may very well get together overnight, their call.
Germans can take a shoulder satchel/work bag for drink/comestibles etc but the main pack will be cached for you.
You won't be without your main packs for the night. I suppose it would be possible to get completely lost but the search HQ is in the middle of the radial site, so easy enough to take yourself out of the game if it gets dark and you haven't linked up with your pack yet and get pointed in the right direction (or surrender, which is fairer!).

Maybe the Germans will take themselves into town for some grub instead then.

Personally I'd say if you miss the link up to get your kit was it a straight choice of roughing it or surrendering for a good nights sleep but thats just me. Plus I'm fairly local so don't have to worry about a long drive home feeling tired.

In the interests of 'fun' we don't intend that you are deprived of a dry, warm night with some grub inside you. Unless your idea of fun IS being deprived of a dry, warm night with some grub inside you. And that is the beauty of the German side, within a game construct, you live by your wits and play as 'hard' as you like.

It will be a full 24 hour event for escapees who evade capture for 24 hours. That is to say, you will be 'out there' playing the part and not breaking off from the game for a piss-up and then sleeping-in until 10am. Two riders to this though - no weapons are to be loaded or used overnight for safety reasons (we will set a cut-off time so that safety glasses can safely be removed). And while the British may (or may not) send out patrols in the hours of darkness to probe, harry or disrupt they will be disarmed. So, in a sense, the British will be playing for 24 hours too, but in a more civilised fashion. It wouldn't be particularly useful to send out men at 2am when I'd prefer them rested for the next day.

If all the Germans are in civvies does that mean auto capture or can you attempt to blag your way out of trouble, luckilly I speak very good English for a Bavarian :giggle:

Note that the British soldiers on the search may be satisfied with explanation/papers but if they have any concerns they will escort the prisoner to search HQ for further enquiries to be made. But this is Britain. You will be offered a cup of tea, not have water poured down your neck and the truth extracted from you by bawling in your face. But I might try boring you into submission. Welsh accents might be convincing. Norwegian back packers would raise some eyebrows. A nun's habit would have alarm bells ringing. :giggle: Best plan is not to get yourself into a pickle by staying alert and keeping out of trouble.

The scenario was an inspired idea of Pete's - so nice to fight WW2 here in the UK. I don't much like sea or air travel!
