OPERATION BITEBACK.
Classified for SOE only we must not let word of this missions objectives be known to our US allies.
At the start of the war we British had the belief that when it came to RADAR we had the upper hand.
However in recent months we have begun to suspect that the Germans may have surpassed us in this technology.
This footage is captured film showing some of the equipment you are to acquire.
The objective is to capture equipment from a coastal radar station that is also a development site for the GEMA radio detection & ranging equipment.
It is important to retrieve any equipment and documentation on hand at the site.
All technology retrieved is for British use only.
It is also imperative that the radar station is put out of action prior to the fist of June.
You are to be dropped on the 20th May and you should contact people of the local resistance who will assist you in this mission.
One completion of your mission you are to go into hiding with our resistance operatives who will receive further information.
We will be sending a coded message to the resistance to inform them that the mission is proceed.
Here is a arial photograph of the installation.
Here is a photograph of some of the GEMA equipment.
Try and decrypt the Morse Code on the end of the video.
Free speech is expensive these days!
So who has had a go at cracking the morse code?
It is the message to tell the resistance that the mission is to go ahead.
Free speech is expensive these days!
Not had a chance yet, will try it later.
"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."
Not had a chance yet, will try it later.
I will give a clue it is similar to something on the radio in The Longest Day.
Free speech is expensive these days!
