Sounds cool to me. Hopefully, Steve will be present to assist me with his woodmanship skills as well. I'm sorting a kitlist for it at the moment, which I'll expect them to carry with them everywhere.

I've been in conversation with Gadge again, to enthuse him that this is the ultimate event for PBI to get down to some proper soldiering. He's gone for it and I've assured him that I won't give him and his bad back any tasks which involve endurance or strenuous effort.

Yes.

Since we will be using radios for this event how about a bit about correct radio use? I learnt a bit about modern Brit radio protocol from Keith which we used to use pre-WW2 days and it made me realise how effective (and simple) it was - and I'd love to have my memory refreshed!

I don't see why not, if we have radios. I'll have to learn the 1940's phonetic alphabet though!

I was actually a qualified signals instructor in my early days in the Staffords, so I won't have to relearn very much to do a signals session.

All of this planning is actually helping my memory, which took a real bashing, post meningitis. I have forgotten major parts of my life!

Webby has mentioned Carly wanting to come! She's a nice girl and all that but I don't think she'll be up to it and Webby will sack it out of sympathy for her when she quits. I've dropped him as tactful a pm as I can on the subject.

Glad to see you're up for this.

I'm going to try to be diplomatic about this but, Carly will almost certainly find it heavy going. We'll be on the go all day, much more so than at the last one I did and there's rucksacks full of kit to be carried, along with webbing and weapons. Not to mention lifting, cutting and carrying stuff to make shelters. If you can vouch for her being able to hack it, I'll take your word for it. It's just that it's going to be limited places and I wouldn't want a place taken by anyone who was only going to last half a day. Please don't take offence, I'm just pointing out that it's a lot more physical than anything we've done before. If you want to chat about it, my number is 01902 417351.

Hmmm, tricky! I suppose if Carly did come to training and couldn't cut it then at least we will be sure she won't book for Jedburgh. Pre-selection process!

How shall we handle booking? The site owner has always only charged a tenner a head and I really don't want them to know we're charging above and beyond that, so paying them in cash would be best.

The way we did the PBI "sniper" day was, to take a non returnable £10 deposit via paypal and then the balance in cash on the day. The beauty of that is, if the players don't show upon the day, we still make a tenner! The bad news is, that even though we're the organisers, the site owner will still want a tenner off each of us.

Of course, if there's no site manager there to count us, they won't know how many of us were there!

I'd say do what we normally do - full price up front, we pay cash on the day to the owner.

Well, that is the easiest but we paid taffyjohn in notes - a lot, Stephen couldn't wait to get shot of 'em!
