Thanks to the organisers and players for an excellent first 'away WW2' game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The site was excellent and the turret was actually scary to attack. (Thanks also for offering it to us, such a shame it would not fit in my car.) It was clear that a lot of thought and effort had gone into this game. Our first attack was a real surprise but did involve some sneaky crawling through the gorse bushes , I am still pulling thorns from my knees) we thought we had been spotted on a number of occasions, but it would seem not. I feel bad that we could only make it for one day and would have loved to have stayed for a meal and a beer or three. Hopefully, there will be a next time.

I'm liking the 'tank emplacement' is it plywood?

Yes, the Panzer II turret is plywood. The 20mm is a dummy but the MG had an airsoft sten in it to make it shoot.

The rear attack took us completely by surprise as we both suffered from the usual frontal arc target fixation and were utterly convinced by oddballs story that a group of US players had got lost en route and were arriving late!

What a fantastic event! Oddball and Pride of England had done a magnificent job Bangalore Torpedo to clear the barbed wire and minefield at the start of the day, random bangs to simulate artillery and to 'Top it off' a panzer II on top of the mountain to attack. 10 mins into the first assault a sniper got me in the right eye, it was a cracking shot and I fell backwards into the gorse bushes.
It just goes to show how vital eye protection is as it could have caused catastrophic damage. So ALWAYS WEAR YOUR GLASSES even if they do mist up! There were only 6 of us for this first mission and it was great to work with the two Toms and Chris ( As British, and what heroes they were too) Steve, Oddball, and myself were the American element and considerably older but still up for it.
It was a suicide mission for the 6x of us but the 9x Americans from the 34th surprised the Germans from the rear and we captured the hill.
Mission 2 was to capture an Enigma machine (another brilliant piece of kit made by Oddball) and take it to the Airfield to have it flown out by Lysander back to Bletchley Park. However the Pilot must have decided to go to The Blackpool Airshow instead. Whilst we were waiting for Biggles the Germans attacked and we were overrun and the machine was back in their hands.
Later in the afternoon there were 2x more missions and then it was a trip into Mold for fish and chips in the jeep. In the evening there was much rejoicing and drinking gathered around the camp fire.

I was hoping to do both days but after climbing 3 peaks in full kit by 05.00 on the Sunday my back and knees were about to give out and to top it all I had stomach cramps too. So it was a trip back to base for me.

Thanks to everyone who made it a cracking event and I hope everyone had a great day on the Sunday for the Quarry missions. Best wishes magmer

Had a cracking day , ache like buggery now wished i could have done both days but was quite drugged up just to manage the one , i know it did not quite go to plan at all times but was was great fun for me to and well done on booking the right weather

well after months of secrecy, the attack on the hill went well though we did take a while getting ready and decided to crawl through every prickly bush on the hill.

I used so much pyro throughout the day it was great fun.

on e of the main highlights for me was when we marched up to get ready for the attack and went to far and caught a sight of the pillbox on the hill to our side it looked very cool , well worth the effort and as tin said , shame we could not have taken it home

so many good moments and some good scraps only scary moment for me was the last game when my helmet nearly roll off the side down the drop lol

Well done to all you guys for the amount of effort you put into the games and props
The surprise attack went well and thank god for the much needed rest at the top before the main attack.
The Germans were still facing the wrong way even after we had thrown 2 smokes and a couple of grenades from their 6
We enjoyed every battle we fought and fair play to the Germans they put up a good fight every time

The best attack was the first one it was so intense trying to work out away in with out being spotted, and the end result was fantastic
The high light of the day was the last game when a sneaky german came from behind us and made us surrender, to then be shot by about 3 of his comrades after we had surrendered

Well done guys when is the next one?

Many thanks to all that attended, I always think that its the people at these events having the right spirit that make it work.

This event was a milestone for me, my 20th WW2 event and my first helping to organise (Thanks Nigel for the opportunity ).

Thanks to Taffy for use of his superbe site and good to see your on the mend

I will give some more thoughts tommorrow when less knackered and knock up a medal for all that survived the mountainous Italian terrain

P.S. Rounding up sheep was much easier than I expected, I will tell my Border Collie not to be so smug.

Being inside the tank turret was more scary than attacking it believe me! No wonder no one else wanted to go in.
I had restricted Vision and no way of aiming the gun just shoot n hope for the best.
At least one grenade exploded on it and I had no clue I was the last one alive!

It was such a fun day. We need more

Hsd a great weekend disarming the bombs ti start with wad funny thanks tom for letting me know that the gate can open after I climbed over it other then that thsnkd for everyone who turned nice to see new and old faces ill post up pictures once I get my strength back

hehe well we ready to attack a lot earlier but there was tad confusion which caused the huge delay lol it could have well been a hour before or more lool but was good fun when we got around to it

Thank you Oddball and Pride for running the event without my help, great weekend and the players were spot on, you all took it as it came and played fair and hard, I wish all airsofters were like you guys as I trusted you all to take care of my site and fair play you did us proud Thank you all for coming and next time I will be doing the cooking xxx

Excellent second event and an honour to work with Oddball as his Second In Command for the Allies, however I'm feeling guilty for leaving suddenly on the Sunday due to severe leg pains which are still annoying me as I type.

No matter, it's a small price to pay for the fun I had on the Saturday, thank you prideofengland and marsha for being there to assist while I briefed the group at the camp site, and my gratitude goes out to taffyjohn for allowing the use of the site, along with everyone else for being there and making the event all the more enjoyable.

On the whole it was an excellent event and has provided me with plenty of lessons, the most prominent being to ensure I bring plenty of painkillers next time just in case the pains I'm experiencing now haunt me again.

A great weekend, a great site, thanks to all the organisers for all their hard work, the planning and timings were spot on, I never once thought "what are we supposed to be doing now", as I occasionally have in other games. It’s the first time I've had to defuse an unexploded bomb and it didn't go well!, and the sight of assorted Germans and Americans running round trying to round sheep up will stay with me for a while
