Hello guys i'm ben.

I've been scouting through google andyoutube and really getting interested into Airsofting, especially WW2 airsofting. I'm currently 15 and soon to be 16. I know at the moment i'm currently a litle under aged to be airsofting Haha (god damn that new RIF law in oct 07) but my time will soon come haha :P Although it only stops me from an RIF i can still be a medic woot ^^. A few of my friends are also wanting to get into WW2 airsofting. I would like to ask the age you guys accept to play at the games, as of not using a imitation weapon, as a medic if you use medics in the rules of your games.

Ben :)

Welcome to the forum Ben!
Some answers and general points:
1) You are not under age to be airsofting - many airsoft sites have players from 12 and up
2) You are under age to buy RIFs but that doesn't prevent you form playing, either with hired or borrowed guns
3) Comrades in Arms WW2 games (specifically) now have an 18 and over policy so I'm afraid you won't be able to attend one of those
4) There are other WW2 games being run up and down the country where you can play - Carentan coming up in November is one of them.

By the way Ben - turning up at regular open day skirmishes in WW2 kit always creates a stir. Stand out from the DPM crowd!

Can i ask for the link to the info on carentan.

Well, as i'm soon to hit 16 (December 6th if anyone wants to get me a present LOL) i will be getting a frequent job to gain money for uniform.

I would just like to ask a couple of more questions if its not too bothering. When you have to fill out the UKARA form, you have to get it signed and stamped by a Airsofting organisation, could this be the airsoft group to have it stamped. I have just found out my parents can actually buy the weapon, then pass it to me on christmas to have.
I have looked around on the posts in this forum sub-section, there are alot of 12-16 currently joining WW2 airsoft, never know when we are all 18 the games could get pretty interesting.

I would just like to ask what good website for these RIF, i can only buy from a british site correct, as importing RIF is ilegal now.

primary:
Maraushin M1 Garand
M1A1 Thompson AEG
M1 Carbine
Browning automatic weapon or BAR* AEG - cannot find these guys anywhere ^^

Secondary:
M1911A1 Colt 45

I would be heading towards collecting gear for 506th PIR airbourne.
I think Soldier of fortune is the best site for that.

Ben, and thanks.

A list of answers then:
1) Carentan viewforum.php?f=51
2) UKARA form will be only of use for over 18's. To 'qualify' for this you must be a member of a participating airsoft site and have played there three times in not less than two months.
3) Yes, lots of interest from youngsters so big thumbs up there.
4) With UKARA importing isn't that difficult (and perfectly legal if you have a legal defence) but buying from a UK shop often makes more sense
5) Loads of UK RIF suppliers though some of the more esoteric and low demand items can be difficult (spoilt for choice with the Thompson and Colt 45's though)
6) Check out Epic for uniforms before chucking money SoF's way http://www.epicmilitaria.com/

Welcome to the forum ben.

With regards to your choices of weapons. Alot of people think the gas Garand is the best or their only option. Many of us have custom made AEG garands using M14's as doner internals. They are made by a few select guys ranging from between £250 and £400.

Using an AEG, means that its much easier to skirmish. I know the gas one has the realistic clip release, but trust me, u dont wanna go looking for your loose mags in the middle of a game. Definatly look at AEG garands. There is alot of info regarding these on this forum you've just gotta search for it.

Also your BAR will cost you in the region of £800-£1000 depending on the retailer. Its made by VFC, and can be bought from firesupport, amoungst others.

http://www.fire-support.co.uk/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2737

You can make a full airborne loadout for something in the region of £250-£300 (not including weapons). Do your research ,there is also a hell of alot of info regarding what kit you need for each specific look, on this forum and in the Kitguides. Just introduce yourself, search through the forum history. There is always someone to help.

Look at retailers like Epic, paratrooper.fr, also ebay is full of ww2 kit, repro and original.

Hi Ben welcome to the forum.

Best way of getting your first taste of airsofting is to go to an open day at a local site, as you'll be wanting to hire a gun you usually need to pre-book, so find your nearest site and give them a ring.

With regard to guns for WW2 games keep in mind you don't have to have a WW2 gun there is a list of counts as guns which will allow you to use more modern guns and this tends to have been adopted by non-CiA organisers of WW2 games.

As to your list of guns I agree with what biguk said about the gas Garand and BAR, the carbines aren't bad, the early M1s aren't blowback but they're pretty reliable however as they're not being made anymore they're not easy to get hold of and it's especially difficult to get the mags for them, the blowback M1/M2 carbines are ok but they can have problems and do need tinkering with so I wouldn't recommend them as your first purchase, also you're probably not aware that there is issues with all gas guns and low tempratures, basically the colder it gets the worse they perform. So that leaves the aeg Thompson both the TM and Chinese versions are pretty reliable and the Chinese one is nice and cheap, or a custom aeg Garand although I would try one out, (or a M14 which is the same size), to see if you get on with it as at sixteen it might be too big for you to use comfortably, as an alternative you could get a socom M14 which looks a bit like a shortened Garand without having to alter it, plus at a later date you could use it as a base gun for a garand conversion.

Thanks for you comments there guys,

Well Aeg Thompson was the weapon i was first intended on getting, But i thought it would be slightly common. Fo christmas and my birthday i should recieve around 600-800 quid which is what i'll be using to afford one of my weapons. I just hae to fiddle around the forums and website to understand pros and cons of the weapons before i go splashing out on something.

Thanks dude, Ben.

This forum is full of guys and gals who know there stuff regarding ww2 kit. Everyone's more than happy to answer any question you throw at them, even if its a simple thing. I asked plenty of people on this forum very simple questions when i first started. Which was 6 months ago.

Research is the key though. If your unsure of anything just run a search on the forum. If something pops up then great, if not then ask away. If your interested in getting yourself a Paratrooper setup, get yourself a few books with lots of pictures and info regarding the uniforms and equipment. There is loads of information about what books are good on the various forum threads..

Definatly get yourself to an open day/skirmish as Pete says. See if you enjoy it. WW2 airsoft is played slightly different but the fundimentals are the same.

Good luck
