Good evenin'. I'm based in Shropshire, 22 years old and have been a keen airsoft skirmisher for over 4 years now, love the sport and the gear that goes with it. Despite not attending any reenactments (yet), most of the time I skirmish in my US infantry Vietnam kit and weaponry. Ever since I started, I told myself I would eventually do a World War II-era 101st Airborne loadout, and just this week, I finally splashed out on a repro M1942 jump suit, webbing, boots and an ICS M1 Garand (already own a genuine M1 helmet). I've also had my TM M1911A1 for about 2 years, still going strong! Next month, if all goes well, I should hopefully have a Thompson of some sort as well. Couldn't really tell you why I love old-school US kit over other nations, just my thing I guess. I personally get more enjoyment out of the game when using gear I'm genuinely interested in. I don't really care if the modern stuff is more 'suitable' for airsoft.
I suppose your wondering why I haven't yet been to any reenactment events. To be honest, I think it's because I play regularly with two friends who are not particularly interested in themed games/historical kit. Since I've spent this much on new gear, and I find WWII in general fascinating, I'm thinking about going to an event of some kind next year by myself (although I will most likely have to travel a considerable distance...Shropshire isn't exactly airsoft central!).
Anyway, basically I just wanted to say hi and tell everyone I'm a long-time skirmisher but total noob reenactor.

Yes some travel is needed with WW2 but it is well worth it

Although it was in different hands back then. Don't quote me on this, but I think JD Airsoft in Cannock may have been the people in charge in those days. Tempted to go back sometime, a lot closer than my usual site (First and Only The Asylum in Kidderminster).

Yes mate, Phil at jd used to run it but now once a month they run a airsoft game there alongside the paintball ears, the site is over 100 acres so you only see them in the safe zone.
