Basically, I first registered in this forum 7 - 8 years ago. However I lacked the funds & freedom to actually participate in any events here. So, unsurprisingly, my interest wavered for a while.
Now things are different, employment is on the horizon as is my own transport. Come September I'm going to be based from the North West around Manchester.
Not UKARA registered yet, but I've been revising the how-to's and where's in terms of local sites to get the ball rolling on that front.
Not sure about what side I'd like to step into, that's up in the air, but good times ahead!

I'll probably end up starting with a basic US load out, seems to be the easier, but I'm open to being German or at least head in that direction eventually.

as mentioned above, kit is available to borrow or rent and as you based around Manchester maybe the game at Fireball in January might be a good place to start?

Whatever side you start with remember an infantry impression will be the most versatile and German will get the most action as they taught everybody else ,infantry first is the key , its usually only minor changes or additions to do other wing's of the same army such as airborne etc.get advice before spending money as its easy to be confused and get an item that's either poor quality or was rarely ever used ,some of the German camo kit was very rare and only late war for example ,were all happy to answer questions .most games have a loan kit thread ,make use of it to get to a game asap ,virtually nobody goes to their first game in perfect complete kit .

Cheers guys! I won't be taking up my role in Manchester until September so none of the currently scheduled games are able to be attended by myself.
Yeah, I've read elsewhere that basic infantryman is the best way to go. Like I said, it's probably going to be American as in terms of the Allies it's the cheapest kit to get. German is on the table, but I'm a bit on the fence about it.
Whatever happens, my plan is to build up any kit slowly.
