Ok a little about myself, I am James Chilton - an 18 year old 3D designer ( iClone and Reallusion - I produce WW2 weapon sets for Japan, Uk, Russian and Resistance forces) and am a very keen WW2 Historian.

I remember the good old days - running arround my friends large garden with BB pistols, Having the most fun in my life!...
I have always wanted to get into this stuff, and now i have finally "come of age"!

However I am at a complete loss as to what i am to do to get into to this.

Do I need a Licence?
Who do I need to be registered with?
Is this reinacting?
Where do I buy ?( I am from Yorkshire)
How do I buy - Licence and ID wise.

As i am publishing 3d works my funds are pretty high, arround the £700-£1000 mark.

Hi there. To purchase a gun you will need a UKARA certificate, usually gained through skirmishing at a local site a few times.

This isn't "reenacting" as such - reenactors do not use BB guns - however, CiA (and others) try to run games with a realistic feel to them.

You can rent guns for the day at most sites. Some also rent basic modern camo gear.

This doesn't show all sites, but hopefully it'll help... http://www.airsoftmap.co.uk/

Hi welcome to the fold :good:

Steiners not quite right, you don't need to be UKARA registered but it does help, to be able to buy airsoft guns you need to be a member of a site which has public liability insurance, I'd recommend that you go and have a game at a local site and they'll be more than happy to give you all the details.

As to getting involved in the WW2 side of things I suggest you have a browse of the forum and have a look at the kit guides and then decide which side you want to join, British, US & German are the main ones but there are a few doing Russian and even the occasional Italian, (of course you don't have to stick with 1 side I've got loadouts for all 5), once you decided have a look in the appropriate sections of the forum and you'll find threads on where to buy the kit from.

As to West Yorkshire, that is where I am. Check out the Operation Aerial thread as the site being used for that is in Hudds/Wakefield area.

A couple of us 'll be going to an open day (or many) in WWII kit shortly.

welcome aboard! (I would also suggest US infantry. Be a grunt! )

The Odds are that I will go British - In 6 months i should have arround £2000 to spend - and I really would like an Enfield - is and Enfield (SMLE) Allowed in your games?
I joined another forum - yesterday to be precise - in which I am currently discussing ( and arranging) a few skirmishes - i hope to be joining in on a few events later this year aswell - but first things first - My UKARA Registration!

SMLE is fine, but its early war, having said that its much better than an L 96 or whatever they are, if your doing south staffs an mp40 is fine as a captured weapon.any ww2 weapon will be more acceptable than a disguised modern AEG.

Noone currently makes an airsoft Webley unfortunately, Brit players who want a revolver tend to use a S&W M10, made by Tanaka Works, as these were lend/lease from America to the UK (in fact, I believe they were nicknamed "victory" revolvers). Shoot & Scoot (Warren) is the place to go if you're after an Enfield No.4 or an SMLE, not cheap but nicely made weapons (he also does a Sten).

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Get an SMLE if you want. It covers a much larger range of time and area than the No4.
