Welcome Jay!
Good to have another project builder on the forum - I'm totally incompetent at making stuff (beyond pencil holders made from cereal packets, loo rolls and sticky-backed plastic - that's the Blue Peter generation for you) and watch with awe at what you chaps are making.
I look forward to seeing the results from your FG42 project.

cheers for the welcome guys

chomley...the world will always need pencil holders mate so keep the good work up :)

to get the fg42 started i will need a m14 gearbox and then build a receiver around it with a magwell that can take m14 mags (i have never seen one in person but they seem to be close to fg42 mags).then i can use a lot of parts off my shoei like stock, foregrip, bipod etc.

do all you guys do the events, would love to hook up and try one out. i have a marushin kar98 and acm mp40 just need to get some kit.

cheers
jay

Welcome Jay :)

With regard to the M14 gearbox you're probably better off getting a complete M14, I did ask Gunner, (Gunnerairsoft my preferred supplier), about M14 Gearboxs and he said he might be able to get some at about $40 a go which is almost half the price of a complete M14 and when you start pricing up all the other parts required you could end up paying more than for the complete gun.

'ello Jay,

Try Landwarrior airsoft for an ACM M14, prices tend to be quite decent from them as well.

Oh, hello by the way!

PS - not the Jay that used to play down at Ambush are you? along with some guys called Bruce, Si and Chris?

With regard to the quality, I’ve got a number of these, mostly destined to be donors for various projects, and I have skirmished with one and it performed fine, also there is a guy in the US who uses these to build Garands and I’ve not seen any criticism of those, plus a lot of people are finding that the Chinese copies can be more reliable than some of the Japanese guns.

If you order from someone in the UK you could ask them to delay dispatch until just before you return from holiday as long as the parcel has no indication of what’s inside it shouldn’t matter if it arrives after the 1st October.
