Hello and welcome. Unfortunately, K98s are not cheap. The Dboys is the cheapest, but is not really skirmishable. The other alternatives are a Tanaka, or a custom-made springer, both of which are going to cost you a few hundred quid.

As for joining us, well there are a few different people on here who organise games, and each have their own rules. CiA are 18+ only, but many other organisers are not, so if you want to join in an event, keep your eyes on the Events section.

hi mate and welcome to the forum.
as steiner said, tanaka k98s are the best, but mine stands me at 500 quid so far for a rifle 4 mags and a copy zf41 scope
i waited about 3 years before i took the plunge, but im glad i did.

whatever gun you get, i think you will enjoy ww2 airsoft, its so much better than the open days, and most games and people are very helpfull to new players :good:

Hi Mate,

The route I have ended up taking is to obtain a genuine Mauser K98 stock and ironwork and JG BAR-10 working parts.

There is a thread on here...

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1613

This will show you how to make your own.

Some of the guys on here have put together superb examples and because the stocks are original, the patina and distressing on the wood looks authentic.

My own project now just needs the magazine cut out doing and a rear sight assembly adding.

Just a little more work and she will be done....I'll upload pics to the thread when it is finished.

Anybody got a K98 rear sight assembly?

Welcome to the forum.

You're not the only airsoft team in the Halifax area - most of 1 Squadron (RAF Regiment themed) and Fox Comp (101st themed) are based in and around Halifax!

Most of 1 Sqn are ex/serving Air Cadets (cadets and staff - including me). I lived in Brighouse up until 2 years ago and used to be OC at 2490 (Spen Valley) Sqn. Which sqn are you at - I'm guessing 59?

You're more than welcome to join either 1 Sqn or Fox Comp (or both). We usually ask you to play along side us for 3 games to make sure you like us and we like you :P . After that you'll invited to become a full member.

We're not playing much at the moment (long story), but are looking at sorting that, so I'll give you a shout, via here, to let you know where and when. Most modern games have hire guns available and you can usually borrow a WW2 weapon from the forum members on a 'bend it, mend it' basis.

1 Sqn has a website here. Its a little out of date, but it'll give you an idea of what we're about.

250 was my first Sqn after I moved from South Yorks! I was down there a couple of weeks ago talking to your boss.

im not really recruit pinching LOL.
those days are long gone, and i miss them.

as for joing the RAF, do it quick, theres 4500 redundancies coming up soon so jobs in the raf will be hard fought for, and serving men will be keen to stay on.

Don't you have to have 3 fingers and play the Banjo to live in Littleborough?

Only kidding, I didn't know we were so close geographically!

i moved here 8 years ago, no need to say kidding, your right, all the true "littleborogh born and bred" do have odd numbers of fingers and toes, alchahol /drug problems, and they look like the audience from the jeremy kyle show, its a typical lancashire small village.
quite a few out of towners move here for the quiet country life, but it really does have people who never been more than 10 miles away in their life

i digress of track (again) :slap:

phil?
hes the lols
we did a cooking session on tuesday with the tranjors and try to make rat packs look edible
unfortunatly its impossible to do that :L and he was to eat them :L

i been in the cadets for 4 years :/ :L
so what 2 tone gun you reccomend for me then? (i prefer bolt action due to the no 8 )
i was thinking about saving £150 for either the Dboys Kar98k or the Warrior L96 with scope but im unsure which one to get
help meee!!!!

I'd steer clear of 2 tone! Wait till your 18 and play a few games at open sites with hire guns, you'll then be able to buy a real RIF. I'd also try to play with both bolt action and AEG before you decide. You may not like bolt action in airsoft games.

Hello & welcome.

There are plenty of Germans up here, although I'd hesitate to refer to the loose accumulation of old fuddy duddies known as 'wheezy company' as an airsoft team.

To echo the advice above, it is only a few months until you are 18 (I know it feels like centuries when you a teenager), so go along to some open days & hire guns until you buy your own next year. If you are desparate for a WW2 look budget springer boltie, then a standard a wood stock modern rifle would do. Scrim up the barrel and you could think about converting it later. A cheap M14 AEG is also a useful weapon as it can be used as a substitute rifle or easily converted into e.g. a G43, SVT40 by simply making new top covers and fiddling with the muzzle. You can always use it on single shot if you want.

Main problem with 400+ fps bolt rifles is that most sites have minimum engagement ranges and you won't be able to use it for CQB type things at all. It is very depressing creeping around buildings with just a pistol.

Cheers
Martin

Hi there and welcome to the forum :happyswing:

Just want to echo all the sound advice you've been given re biding your time and waiting - don't go two tone, they look @$%&*

Get a RIF, as and when you can, but don't be in a hurry to make a purchase just for the sake of it - be a bit choosey, and get something you really like, and if you can, try before you buy :happydance:

Above all, have fun :giggle:

you can use tanakas on 134a and the sub 350fps, but you loose the benefit of the bolt action range advantage, still worth doing and great fun to play with
