Hi all,
I've recently got into ww2 airsoft. I've been to one of my local sites (xsite lane end) on skirmish day's but can't get into the spirit of it when everyone's running around in MTP, are there any groups in the area who go to any of the ww2 themed events who I could possibly get a lift with? Any help would be gratefully received.
Josh
Hello and welcome

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
wilkommen.
Best advice get to games.
People will lend kit and ask to car share some people may even be passing near you to get to a game. Choose a game then make a post asking for a lift see what happens
Hello and welcome! There seems to be a swell of events in your vicinity these days so you shouldnt find it too hard to get along to a semi-local game. Borrow kit if you need it and best to go generic with your uniform choices
Welcome to the forums! Come along to one of the events. It's much better playing with fellow ww2 nutters.
Regards,
Ralph
Hello and welcome, myself and Granger only recently got into ww2 airsoft, and I must say its one of the best choises we ever made, games are much more immerse than skirmish sites, having the mission last the whole day and having the possibility of being attacked while eating your lunch (I still don't forgive the yanks for doing that in the last game....cheers fellers) just adds to the quality of the day,

Welcome to the forum!
Worst case scenario, you can always use the train. It can be a PITA carrying everything by train but if you wear the gear and webbing it is possible. British battledress gets a few funny looks and Australian Service dress gets a lot of female attention (SS is probably not recommended). You certainly don't get any negative attention as 'normal' airsofters would. My top tip is check google maps for a station near the game with a pub next door and arrange to get picked up from the pub, that way if your lift is delayed neither of you has to worry as you are somewhere comfortable
Work on persuading other local airsofters to switch to WW2 gear as a way to improve your odds of getting a lift
Hello and welcome,
As above, your best bet if you are after a lift is to post in the relevant game threads. People travel from all over the country to get to events as there are so few of them.
There are quite a few lined up this year already, so hope to see you at one soon.
Cheers

Hi
Thanks for the advice, if I can get to one of the events by train, how does it go when your carrying an AEG, obviously I would have it in a bag but any other advice? At the moment I've got US airborne and infantry equipment which I got from a mate who was having a clear out.
as long as it's in a bag it's fine. I find a Sten will fit in a British large pack with just the barrel sticking out so I wrap some scrim netting around it. If you're travelling in WW2 Uniform, even if someone questions what's in your bag, you have a re-enactors defence fairly obvious for anyone to see. I have carried an SMLE in one of these before with no problems.
It's quite clear that this is a rifle, but not even the British Transport Police batted an eyelid.
A locked bag/case is the most sensible method of transport (a simple padlock on a nylon gun bag should suffice). The most important thing is that should you be stopped by police (probably unlikely), make sure you tell them that you are carrying replica firearms before they discover them for themselves!
Ok cheers for the help

Sounds like you have the kit for the Kasserine event.
Have you asked if anyone is passing your neck of the woods???
Yes, the US kit would be good for Kasserine. It is certainly possible to get to UCAP on the train (a couple of people did it for Crete) but if there is anyone passing your way a lift would be much easier. I think there are a few people from the Oxfordshire area coming.
Cheers
