Myself and a few mates of mine have been dying to try WW2 airsoft for years. Deciding it was time to actually get on with it rather than say we were going to do it, we took to the fabled power of t'internet and stumbled across this, frankly awesome, site.

At least three of us would be well on for signing up for the Hell's Highway event at the end of December. We're obviously noobs, we've done paintball a fair bit but nothing that approaches this level of awesome.

We're all from Bromley, South East London, but fortuitously armed with a semi reliable vehicle and, occasionally, a full tank of fuel, travel ain't a problem.

Would it be alright for us as airsoft virgins to sign up for the end of November event?

We obviously have sweet f.a in terms of kit, but obviously willing to spend money getting geared up. I'd like to do a regular Tommy Atkins impression, but I'd imagine German kit would be extremely helpful as youre pretty much guaranteed a game at every event.

A really superb online community, never really knew this sort of thing was out there before in terms of such high standards.

Thanks for main ting what looks like a bloody fun, interesting hobby. I'm off to rummage through old threads.

Cheers

Gaz

Allo allo :good:

Im sure you would all be more than welcome at Gunmans Hells Highway game. Gunman also does free kit hire and gun hire hire for a modest fee so it would be a good event for you to dip your toes in :D As you sugest if you go German you have the kit for any event. Hope to see you at the Highway :good:

Helo and welcome,

As Tim said, Josh/Gunman does hire kit at his events so you can get all the stuff you need that way.

If you have never, ever done Airsoft before, it might be an idea to go to regular airsoft site beforehand and try it out just to get a feel for how the guns work, conventions around hit taking etc. The style of gameplay isn't really the same as WW2 but at least it gives you an idea of what to expect as there is an awful lot to take in at once otherwise and you want to be having fun, not worrying about remembering everything.

Cheers
Martin

Only really if you embrace field grey wool. Don't be tempted by the enticing array of SS camo...

hello and welcome
the "hells highway " game would be a perfect introduction to ww2 airsoft and the free kit is a bonus and hire guns as well.having a go at a regular aisoft site would be good advice so you are familiar with the range and accuracy of the guns and the etiquette or airsoft but be assured its a very different experience to ww2 airsoft.

Tah for the advice, chaps.

As regards Field Grey Wool-o-rama; that's fine with me. Reading through the forum, there does seem to be a definite trend against forking out on Pea Dot camo and the like. I understand that ultimately what you're looking for is some uniformity; not to stick out like a sore thumb. I am tempted by a gebirgsjäger look as I've got an army of them for Bolt Action (like a few of you, I'm a wargamer when money and time allow). That and I speak German. :)

I'll try a local airsoft then sign on for the Hell's Highway event. It's the blend of historical immersion and potential for Enfield ownership that draws me a lot more than modern stuff; that and it does look extremely fun whilst maintaining some tactics. Frankly, I've been blown away by the attention to detail.
