The VCRA only covers the buying and selling of realistic imitation firearms - not the ownership.

So there is no problem with RIFs being bought into the country (and taken back out) - subject to your ferry/airline's rules on RIF transportation, your country's border regulations and the correct permission sought from our Customs people.

An alternative would be to rent or borrow kit once here in the UK.

Wouldn't that be more accurate if it said "The VCRA only covers the selling, manufacture, and importing of..."?

I'm not sure if the age restriction covers the "buying" part.

Not relevant to our Danish friend who just wants to know if it is OK to bring airsoft guns into the UK. And it is.

The VCRA DOES NOT "only covers the buying and selling of realistic imitation firearms". It also covers import.
The underscored is, by definition, "importing". However, the VCRA uses the phrase "brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to be brought into Great Britain." in the text. There is no leeway if it's not a permanent import, and is therefore TOTALLY relevant. To state otherwise is misleading.

The omission of import in your statement could be misinterpreted to mean there's no problem at all, when there is, and special arrangements need to be made.

Erm, I thought C-W already covered that?

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

I speak from experience my friend. As I carefully stated, arrangements must be made with the very helpful people in HMC&R who also, one would presume, know what they are talking about.

No need to confuse the poor fellow. Martin said "As I have understood, then you have to register at a local airsoftsite so that you can use the RIF`s and not the freaky coloured ones." He has misunderstood and I gave him the information he needed.

The VCRA covers sale, manufacture and import. Simple as that (and after the amount of crap I went through - including being blackmailed by a now-defunct UK retailer - behind the scenes on the VCR front, I know it well)

Regarding bringing Airsoft guns into the UK for events, it is not a problem - providing that the event organisers have given you paperwork about your attendance at the event (Old 'Un on here knows about that, given the participation of European players at his A2C event a couple of years ago)

HMR&C are not to be messed with, so don't try to wing it.

Aye, not to be messed with but, surprisingly perhaps, very helpful and on the ball as long as you deal with the right people. If it is any help Martin - Comrades in Arms are more than happy to assist our overseas friends who wish to attend CiA events to obtain the correct paperwork.
