Next the unexploded bombs, shows the priming fuse which must be removed without touching the metalic sleeve it fits in
The base is covered over with a bit of earth.
Nice work mate I have been thinking about making a bomb like that myself but out of a propane tank.
Should you stick them on your things that blow up thread or keep secret?
Its always hard to get the balance right on what to keep secret and what will promote.

I wont yet, I might put some teasers up later when things are more ready.
Made a start on the Bangalores yesterday, I've also got some wood posts that I will add roadsigns to some and propaganda posters to others so they can be the objective markers/regen points for sunday.(I just hate anything that smacks of capture the flag so thought something more period will look better). I couldnt find the tape rods in my garage, must have thrown them out, can you bring your rods/spikes so we can tie up the barbed wire to them?
As for the background for sundays fighting I thought following the capture of the Monte La Difensa massif the Germans have fallen back to a new defensive position, however one company has become cut off by the rapid allied advance and must breakout and rejoin the division, they must fight their way through the allied positions untill they reach the top of the hill and then conduct a fighting retreat down the other side off the hill to rejoin the division.
That sounds ok will bring my rods may only be about 7 of them.
Was thinking about the radio/radar gear and to be honest a Enigma type machine would be better. We can say the radio station has a coding machine that must be captured with a code book.
Keys look like nails maybe.
I am tempted to make one I still have the black crinkle paint from making the SOE radio last year.
Just getting those keys to look right there must be something that looks like them, maybe nails with washers solderd on them to make the heads larger.

Over 20 years ago I used to work in Liverpool trunk test and the old test desks are still there. I have taken quite a few bits off them now as they were made during WW2. I suspect some of the push switches have small chrome bezels on them with numbers and will look like keys.
Or I could make a Lorenze system with no keys as it was pluged into a teleprinter to use.
Oh God why did I start thinking about this
If someone sees an old typewriter for £10 maybe we should buy it!
Ah this one had square keys and is a rare model ORIGINAL GERMAN WW-II SG41 HITLER MUHLE CIPHER MACHINE

I sort of started last night making a SG41.
As it looks more basic it may be easier to make, no wheels or lamps like the early encoder.
This is a good video to explain the old model.

I presume the SG41 sent the code right out on a line or radio hence no bulbs so you didn't have to write it down once coded then Morse it. Or this may be a teleprinter that codes it onto paper tape then you put the tape into a machine to send it off at higher speed by reading the holes in the tape.
Teleprinters were still in use in BT when I started with them all those years back

The SG41 should have some punched paper tape out the top, I used to pick this stuff up all the time 25 years ago I wish I had kept some punched.
I was looking for a role of punched paper tape and found these on ebay

The things you find, could make it play Deutschland über alles
EDIT
Good info on the SG41 here http://www.jproc.ca/crypto/schluesselgeraet_41.html
It looks like this was the last machine to be made and was intended to be un-able to crack. The papaer that comes out is for plain text not punch paper as I thought.
After end of WWII, a Hitler Mill was found in Norway and the last printed message was still on it. It read:
THE LEADER IS DEAD. THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES. DOENITZ. "

Ok we need more Germans if you think posting a prop video may help of the SG41 or some photos well here is one.

Excellent work Nigel
I've been working hard on the props myself, will post up some more later.I have made the bangalore, the UXB's and the first of the landmines. All need some electrical components fitting though before they work. When there ready I may take them to my local airsoft site to try them out. Perhaps a video of these going bang may help?
Regarding your message about Badger Mcletcher, unfortunately he is on holiday in August so wont be coming
I have PM'd Taffy regarding Exsite members
If you can get the crank handle working we could run some telephone cable to 2 field phones and cranking the handle could be the signal to spring the ambush?
I'll start doing the signs at the end of the month may add a few propaganda posters too

Yes I had that thought myself not sure if the gen will run 2 phone bells never tried it.
Thanks for working on all the props guys

We now have 21 allies including 3 from ex-site doing US airborne I think that's quite a respectable start. Unfortunately only 7 Germans. I would ask Marsha to rustle up some support this weekend at Craigs game but I think there are only 4 other Germans going
Nigel I don't have the names of the 3 Ex-site members, shall I just add them to the list as "Ex-Site 1 US Airborne" etc?
I notice our game is not on the CIA website (non forum part). Can we get chomley to put us on there? below is a large banner that can be used on the CIA part, do we need to do a write up to get on there?
I have also noticed the lack of advertising of the game no banners so please have a word with CW and we will need a short write up as you say but only slightly enlarging on what you have put for the mission I would think.
You could mention the Germans have built a ring of steel comprising mine fields etc
Picture looks great!
I will see if we can get Germans from else where but not going to be easy as I can't get them from re-enactment in the north due to a event ran on the same dates, but people told me to stick with this date and forget about the re-enactors
I did hope your 2 names would bring in Germans, most people that join the forum seem to want to be German but never come to a game.
Its also getting harder to get Germans to games with Americans.
Maybe we should list full Allied places so the Germans know how many enemy they have and that it isn't a small game, we will still have the 34th at the rear of the site.
I had hoped for a better take up by now, if we don't have 12-15 Germans by the end of June we may have to look at canceling or changing to a 1 day Sat game.

Ok I will sort this out with Chommers over the next couple of days
I dont know about posting up the full amount attending so far, on the one hand it does show that we have 28 planning on coming so far and may encourage others to book on, but on the other hand it may deter Germans as they are outnumbered 3-1 at the mo????? any thoughts Marsha & Speirs?
What about a discounted rate for Germans or would that piss off the Allies?
What about a discounted rate for Germans or would that piss off the Allies?
I know what you are thinking mate but I would tend to piss the allies off if they knew.
This isn't a new problem for other games I have been a total pain in the arse to people and sent out PM's to Germans buy using that forum posting "Where are you to help game organisers" as many don't post on their profile where they are.
I have suggested to CW in the past that it would be great if we could have some list or automation so we could do a mass PM for people in particular areas. Answer was NO
Other things I have done is create particular roles for people to get their interest and on a few occasions give a discount to select people in the hope they will attract others in.
For Kelly’s Heroes I sent out a lot of PM's and some people took it as an insult that I was even asking and complained about me
It would be nice to not have to be so proactive like this but people do need a poke, this is why I go mad making stuff to try and attract people to come, it's damned hard when you put a lot of time in and not one person other than the guys you are working with pass a comment.
If I wanted vehicles I would say owners come free but we don’t need vehicles for this other than what I will bring, even the jeep will be parked up a lot of the time.
