Team specific objectives

Ok guys as the weeks draw closer we will be thinking about the team objectives so this thread is for ideas.

My initial basic thought outline is.

US – to kill all German officers and any other ranks that get in the way (basic to the movie). However to achieve this we have a stealth issue to take care of, firstly the radio room before any of the troops close in.
I feel a signal/ message should be sent from the radio room to the US forces to state the communications are now dead or at lest the coms officer is dead.

Germans – they are basically not expecting an attack so should be going about normal duties in a slightly relaxed manner (yes sure they all know we are about to attack but what the hell they can try GOD DAMN IT).
Once the attack commences they are to repel borders and try to protect their officers if they realise that is the main goal of the US forces.

French Resistance – a more complex set of goals which need to be thought out.
They are workers at the Chateau or in the close proximity they know about the planned US attack.
If all goes to plan I have a woman to play the part of Michelle Dubois (I shall say this only once) so my current plan is she is to meet the US force at the start point by the road.
I hope to have the SOE radio sorted out by then, it may be a working radio or just a mp3 playing prop.
Michelle is to give a short brief that the Chateau is occupied with XX number of troops and the French resistance are on hand to rise up.

She may also brief the US that some captured British SOE agents are held somewhere in the complex but don’t know where. She will not be in paly in the game to any large degree after this point.
Other objectives centre around art treasures and D-Day plans which are to be collected from around the site and re-located to a safe place (may be FR/ allied safe zone or outside of it to keep them in play).
They also have to figure out where the Brit SOE agents are locked up.
They should then inform the US of their location and form a plan if the area is not already overran by the US at that point.

French weapons We talked about how they will be allowed to hide their weapons before the game so I would suggest they have a label (tie on tag) given to them to state it is FR and not to be moved if found by Germans. There will not be a great number of hiding locations so it will be easy if the Germans start looking. So I suggest a German brief not to move hidden guns if they find them, however this may not mean that they make it easy for the FR to get hold of them by standing in the proximity. Once the FR take up a hidden weapon they are the enemy
French could use a knife kill to get round this problem

SOE – they have the role of prisoners at the start of the day but we hope to get them out in the first hour. Once they realize there is something happening they should try to make their position known to the allies (I seem to remember a vent in the corner of the cell maybe a white flag/rag with SOE/ British could poke out).

Once they are released they should brief the US forces about the GEMA/SEETAKT radar development site in the near building.
They may try to take command and lead the afternoon attack to capture secret equipment held there and destroy the installation, maybe a scientist prisoner capture could be on the cards! (Dr. Rudolf Kuenhold). see http://www.vectorsite.net/ttwiz_07.html
A white coat could be used to make him stand out for capture.

As we talked about we can have a planned lunch in this one to allow us to shuffle the game play to the other building.

I had a thought this morning that we should have a video for the SOE guys to show the cell and the second building so they know their roles before they come.
They may have some thoughts about how to play it.
An other thing is they could pick the location where the RADAR gear will be in some way along with Porta and Tiny and leave me out of it. Then it would be a detail I and the other US don't know on the day

Also the FR arm band need only be a cross of Lorraine on yellow, I would say white but it would look like a bandage.

I found an original arm band on eBay the other day and took dimensions for it. Was thinking a simple white band with a red and blue bit sewn to it and the cross in the middle. I'll see what fabric I can get together at work this week. I did see some proper elasticated white armbands on eBay with a 'c' on them which could be covere withered or blue, but at 1.25 each It could become a costly excersise.

I was thinking 2 cans of car paint red & blue and a stencil on bed sheet leave a white 45 degree square in the middle for the cross with a marker pen.

Now we have the SOE objectives stated we can also consider a part for a German (Dr. Rudolf Kuenhold) for the afternoon. Maybe Porta can ask on the forum for a volunteer that may not have much kit

Ok I have added an other US on the list but Armourdug may not make it now and he says none of Dog want to go.

We may get an extra German soon to so now about 25 -26 places taken total.
We may have to move 2 guys from US to German and Spiers back to US and be forced to drop the 2 US in German gear.
However I can move 2 over to German and we may get a few more for US that way.

Lets hope Gadge comes he isn't saying much right now and Evo is on the list anyway, maybe Evo is thinking of dropping out :?

We could PM Barry & Anne and ask if they would like to be US maybe give them a special price not sure. Anyway they are good to have along if we could get them. If Anne would go French resistance it could work well.

Some of dog co were the people who complained about the US side being booked

By alienating PBI/Doughboys and redoing the booking making it "Fair", means that both dog co and PBI/Doughboys have fooked the game off,

Myself and Tiny worked really hard on recruiting both groups at the gunman "flying lead" game. with both groups fooking the game off, its going to be a real struggle.

I had 4 germans from this forum who all gave me a "definitive" YES and two american groups who also wanted to come, but they have all since steered clear.

All the player base enthusiasm for the game seemed to fall off a cliff after the booking thread fiasco. (im not having a go, i know you had reasons nigel)

But i feel my enthusiasm for the game going out of the window, and I really don't feel like going, its more of a sense of not letting people down thats making me go, not because im looking forward to it. :(

if bookings havent picked up by may 1st , id suggest calling it off, if they pick up, great, if not , its better to call it of before people start paying, instead of hosting a half attended fook up .

sorry if this is negative, its just how im feeling

I do know what you mean mate I have felt the same and have had a lot of hassle in my home life.

You would think they would be grown up enough to see the problem I had and get on with it :?

It is a great site and the game would work well but they do need to be there for it to work.

Maybe we need to make a forum statement to say such?

I have and still am putting a lot of time in on props for this :x

If this game does not go ahead I am tempted to never bother again and I am unlikely to attend many others.

Since CIA split up it looks like many of the games have moved south for most of the time well more than they were at any rate.

I know Tiny is annoyed about it all I hope he does not blame me.

As I have said on that day, as soon as I saw the first 2 complaints from Dog Co I knew there would be pages of them if I didn't act fast. What I should have done was lock the thread and talk it over with you guys for a while.
But I thought the fast way to fix it was just reset it and let them start again first come first served on the forum.

We have to remember Dog Co were good enough to come to Anarchy when the rest of them would not touch us, none of PBI even tried to go to that game. Then Wladek said on this booking that they wanted to but all the spaces were gone so fast  I remember having to PM all sorts of people last year to try and get them to Anarchy. One guy even reported me as SPAM.

I may get on the Dog Co forum and have a chat

To be honest mate if we get this to 15 Germans we may be ok.
I can move Spiers back to US and Cowboy or Mark Merrifield to German as they both have German gear and can bring both on the day.
We have 15 allied and 12 German so a 15 per side game isn't out the window if we get Gadge and a few more we can still do this :good:
I have aslo just applied for the Dog co forum to chat on there and see what I can do.

I'm not so much annoyed, as disheartened. This event started off with so much potential and seems to have plummeted into darkness. Yes we did work hard at recruiting players for this, and it does smart a bit that it all went to pot after the booking malarkey, but looking forward not backwards is the only way we can make it work. I would love for this event to go ahead full steam and be a great weekend, but like Porta says, if the bookings haven't picked up I think we should look at cancelling. I know there's many players booked on who are looking forward to it but I have a suspicion that there are some on there who will just not attend, like Anarchy. If the player base is running on a minimum as it is and people are no-shows, then the day will be more of a flop than a success and I know none of us want that. that said, I suggest when we hit the beginning of next month we have a bit of a chinwag, suss out how many players are booked in, realistically decide if we think all will attend(guess at about 10% no-shows or summet) then make a decision on how we feel about moving forward.

Involving players in the decisions is a recipie for disaster(booking thread scenario being a prime example), and for me, moving players around to suit the side balance falls into that bracket, so I think asking people to swap sides is a bad idea.

Dunno what more to say really, but thought I needed to give a little bit of input!

The guys I am talking about to swap sides have said from the start they will do this so no problem with that.
I have also sent PM's to a few who you don't see on the forum much and they are up for the game still and ready to pay now.

If you like I will PM each person this week and make sure they are still switched on.

How many Germans do we think will make this work?

I tend to think we could run with 15 if all turn up but the best I think we could hope for is 20 but not likely to happen.

There are still a number of guys on the forum I think we could PM, in fact I sent a PM to SemperFi today.

Hi mate.

I just noticed you are only down the road in Birmingham maybe near Marsha.
Anyway I see you do German, the thing is we are desperate for more Germans for our Dirty Dozen event.

viewtopic.php?f=206&t=14049

It would be great if you could take part, we have put a lot of time into this and would not like to cancel it at this late date.

The price is only £35 and covers a stay over from Saturday 02/06/12 for the game on Sunday 3rd.

This site is one of the best I have visited with the main building being 4 floors with wood panelled rooms built in about 1908.

Thanks
Nigel.

Last year I had to send out a lot of PM's right up to the last few weeks to get the bookings up, at the start it looked like I would not have to do this again but the 2 groups not seemingly wanting to attend the same game is causing a problem. I gave them all a fair chance to re-book but it seems it is all of one team or none and no mixing with each other.
I was still thinking that it was down to my decision to re-set the last half of the booking list on US to make it fair, but that would be stupid they are grown men so it must be more than that.

I suspect it is a dislike between the 2 groups and we are in the middle, I had no idea how much they resent each other.

We are in a position where we can not enlist from either group now it would seem.
However we do have WW2STU and Spiers both from Dog Co also armourerdoug but he will probably be busy with his job like last year but he still sent his jeep down.
So I still see Dog Co as and option once I get on their forum and chat to them.

As you could see over the last few weeks I have got a bit pissed off with the bookings but could not chat with you so decided to get my head into prop making to entice them in.
At the moment I can see a number of people are looking at what we are doing but will not say a word let alone dip their toe on the booking list.

I still think we need to push this through and make it work if nothing more than to show the rest of them we had a damn good site and game plan.
The way we work this is keep a lot hidden until the day so none of them know what to expect, but it will be that most people still don't understand this and expect it to just be a game were the US run in and kill Germans GAME OVER.
Hence Germans may again be slow to take this up.

We have done more than any other group on here to push this game and it is a shame to throw it all away 2 months from the event.
It could be that some will jump in after the April events :?

Then I can't belive how stupid this all is, not sure how they survive day to day when a small setback gives them such a problem.

I have sent out PM's this morning.

Hi mate

I am just checking out to make sure everyone is still up for this game before I start requesting money?
The big reason I leave things late is many things can happen over several months, family problems injuries or the site for the game could burn down.

We are also a little upset on the take up for this event, it is a big shame as it is a cracking venue and I feel we have a good game plan to work with.
I do feel that buildings make airsoft come to life as the combat becomes naturally more close than compared to an open field or woodland even. This can tend to heighten the realism of the event.

We are currently needing more Germans, if anything there should be a majority of Germans for this to run well. I will be sending PM's etc to others on the forum who I feel may be able to help with this.

Thanks for showing interest on the booking.

Nigel.

Replys as they come in.

Hi

Yes theres a good chance Tom can make it but depends on work which is why he's not booked yet.
I'll have another word with him and see if the rota's are up yet :good:

Hi, sorry it's been a while but yes we are both definatly up for this.
Do you need any deposits or similar?
Thanks
B Dennis

Defffooo up for it.

Ill try to recruit at Taffys tommorw
and ill get in touch wi my mates.

The whole ww2 airsoft scene seems a bit down beat ATM dunno why
Foxleys havin probs too

But I'm sure it will pick up again

My personal opinon with CIA is they need to run a big ish kit light game and allow the 16-18s to play

could only help

Hi Nigel

Yes I'm still up for this, will be able to pay for it at the end of the month just let me know where you want the money sent.

Pete.

Hello mate,

Yes, I am still interested in this event, I do enjoy urban combat and this looks like a great site, how much is the entry again?

Many thanks,

Paul

This is from a PM this afternoon.

Hi Oddball,

Thanks mate for your message - it looks interesting. Yes, the anarchy was the best event I ever attended...
I'll try to find someone to go with from London area.

Cheers,
Alex
