Dry, leaf covered earth. Under tree canopy, no grass but large and flat. Large enough to separate period-ish tent from nylon. In fact it might be an idea to ask players to go the extra mile and buy, beg or borrow zelt/pup tents.-- attachment is not available --

yay! means i get to break out the 8 zelt jobby :)

As to period camping, how much does it cost to get hold of a pup tent in half-decent nick?

£25 from Anchor for Brit post war.

I have a zelt tent plus two pup tents, so I have two tents to loan out. Forester has a 9x9 - if I bag a place in that then that is three loaner tents available.

We will be needing a tent in-game for use as a communications tent - could ask Keith to keep his 9x9 errr.. erected and use that. The Blagger's jerry command tent would be awesome too.

I've just remembered - Keith has a couple of post war pup tents, unused and appropriated by a mate of his still serving

Just a thought, but we could buy them off him as CiA loaner tents?

9x9s are really post war Brit Squaddie, nothing like period at all .
Don't mind using them but would prefer Jays large zelt tent as German command tent .

HS should have a spare pup tent that I sold at Husky but was abandoned by it's owner.

Given that we have already taken peoples money we can't dictate that camping must be period , but could really ask that people go that extra £12 .

Huh, who said a 9x9 was period?
Nothing to do with command tents or the game either, somewhere to sleep.

AND if you read what I have said - I HAVEN'T dictated anything, feck me!

My question was that Keith has a couple of spare pup tents, if we bought them then they can be loaners. No need for ANY paying punter to fork out more cash.

BTW, Barratt has a proper German command tent which I'm sure he will be happy to bring.
Also - the tent WAS claimed but I can't remember who it was. Peppered? Boshman? Stof? Meh, someone!

I'm bringing an 8 zelt jobby for this one. Can hardly be arsed to button 8 zelts together, let alone 16 (bugger. just remembered, got to re-proof them before the event as well  )

As to buying a couple of pup tents as loaners, I seem to remember a conversation along similar lines a while ago. Get hold of a couple to open out and string up to use as tarps, instead of the modern things we've used before.

I take it you mean this type David? - http://www.tentsplus.co.uk/2bip.htm-- attachment is not available --

Yes, those are the monkeys - I had forgotten how cheap they were!
I hadn't thought about using them as tarps at other times.

wish you'd read what you've writtne at times too dear ....

We will be needing a tent in-game for use as a communications tent - could ask Keith to keep his 9x9 errr.. erected and use that

....& I said no I'd rather not use a 9x9 as it's not very in period looking , Jays 8 man would be a better bet , or DBs tent .

Given that we have already taken peoples money we can't dictate that camping must be period , but could really ask that people go that extra £12

..and all I said is we should not DICTATE this , not that we shouldn't ask it , just because they are all already booked in , and looking like we are changing the goalposts afterwards is not a good idea.

I'll not await an apology :ghey: as I know you cannot be wrong ...ever ....

Ah, true I DID say that but that was four days earlier but I didn't say it was period and anyway we had spoken subsequently!

Anyhoo, my public posting (earlier to your post) DIDN'T dictate and was a polite and enthusiastic request to the punters, as I'm sure you read

BUT you still didn't answer the question - shall CiA have a couple of loaner tents?

Couple of loaner tents could be a good idea , although who's going to store them/ put them up etc ? I'm car free as you know . Perhaps we could do a loan once, buy next time idea ?

That's a thought, but for the sake of £40 max...

I'll store, no probs. Punters can put the buggers up, part of the CiA experience!

Errr, I still have the tent that Guy 'sold'. I was the stuff I took at Bryansk that was claimed by Reich Stuff.

Yes, that tent was claimed by someone - can't remember who!

Anyhoo, done the deal with Keith, two unused tents for £30 - one has already been bagged.
