Heh, new topic!

Just spoken to Tyreal - we can have the site anytime we like in July. As Beltring is on from 22-26th July then an early July date single day seems best.
His mum does the catering so we could do much the same as Autumn Mist (but edible this time).

Cool.

PBI Game is June 20th. So July 11th/12th or 18th/19th are the best weekends and both free for me at the moment.

Tyreal? Fearsome? Linky?

Fearful - it's on ASCUK

I'd go for as early July as possible, well away from Beltring.

4-5th is also good for me, but might be a bit too close to PBI's game for comfort.

They are fine with the 4th/5th so no worries on that score.

Which is more logical - Saturday or Sunday game? Is it worth doing a punter poll?

If you are travelling to a single day CiA game would you prefer
A) Saturday (with camping Friday night)
B) Sunday (with camping Sat night)

Erm, according to their website the site is only 30 acres, which IMHO is too small.

I'd prefer Sunday. More time to sort shit out on Saturday. Plus the roads are less busy on Sat/Sun.

Heh, I was thinking more of the punters who have to travel 150 miles home on Sunday night!

Yes, it's not a big site so a restricted numbers game for this one - 20-a-side is fine. (I'm sure Alex will be happy with 40 paying punters!) Topographically it's nice for a small site and don' forget Guy and I have already done the site recce.

OK, cool.

Personally I'd rather travel home at 5pm on a Sunday than drive up after work at about 7pm. Can't speak for the punters!

Double check we can camp ....not surethat was the case when we went there last summer .Also reckon to involve Rich in a courtesy was re date and ideas ...it's him who bring the Brits in .

For info this site is 20 minutes from my house ....so that'll be Kermits gameplan then

I've already asked the camping question and awaiting answer.

By all means get Rich enthused but not involved please - have you seen the stuff already? What everyone has to wear and the guns to use - like we don't know!
Still, as you will see from the thread, 4/5 July is OK with Rich/Gadge.

Just wondered about Operation Aerial which went on after Dunkirk and were the evacuations from 15 - 25th June. This is a bit closer to our game date and a little less obvious. I've been trying to find out who these later evacuees were but they included all sorts of stragglers 'Norman Force' as well as Poles and 52nd Division. Also involved the extraction of 900 tons of gold bullion from the Bank of France for safe keeping in Canada and Africa!

In total 163 225 men were evacuated by Operation Aerial: 30 630 men from Cherbourg; 21,474 from Saint Malo; 32 584 from Brest; 57,235 from Saine-Nazaire; 2,303 from La Pallice and a further 19,000 from other smaller ports.

Interesting account here of chap who left for France on June 13 before returning with evacuees - all these operations seem very orderly and not the rout I had in my mind! http://gloryandgrief.blogspot.com/2009/ ... -back.html

BTW, use of telephone in this game might be quite cool - site isn't so huge stuff can be left behind, it will give chaps something to do and add to the role playing element.
