There is an open day on the 14th (this Saturday). Yith, Wladek and others are going for an open day blat in WW2 kit.

Guy and me are going too - in kit and with weapons for a quick skirmish perhaps! - as a 2nd recce/game discussion/chat with Alex. Anyone else up for it?

Apologies Guy for not showing this morning. Mary decided to trip over the kitten on the stairs at 7.45. Had to call the ambulance as she was lying weird and was in great pain and I dare not move her. We all got back home at 3.30 - ambulance/hospital staff were great. She has fractured the coccyx so there is nothing that can be done other than pain relief.

I have a HUGE hole in the wall where she landed and now I have to deal with the ASDA shop

Well, rearranged visit today was successful. Cracked the scenario outline and pretty much all the detail as well as camping arrangements.

It will be prop light, reusing much stuff we already have. The only new stuff will be local signage, some mock explosives, a Brit mortar (if there is time to organise it, not critical if it can't). Existing props: road barrier, field telephones (vital for this game - errr event I mean), CD players. No staged pyro this time but there will be some smokes, mk9s and mortar rounds.

Write up in the next few days.

How many field telephones do you require. And how much cable?

Regarding the mortar, i really cant be arsed to make a Brit 2" jobby. I'm pretty washed out at the moment, and i've still got two more exams (and the bloody revision :( ) to do next month. We've got the sod-off sized one anyway.

One telephone at German base plus two outlying phones at checkpoints (that's if it is possible to wire both checkpoint phones to one base without a switchboard - if not then two phones at base is OK).
Your role in the game will be as pioneer leader - telephone network will be installed as part of the scenario, which you will oversee, along with dealing with explosives.

Cable length? I'm guessing at 250m total length - perhaps Guy would like to have a guess too!

No worries on the mortar - would it be possible to paint up the existing one in Brit colours? I think in this early period it would have been BS381 223 Middle Bronze Green.

500m cable would be ample .

TBH don't bother repainting the mortar , tell em it's an abandoned French one . In fact I wouldn't make it an objective per se , but see if they find it and then decide it might be useful and go looking for rounds a la real life.?

Germans will need Pioneers , probs 3-4, with specific tasks to do during the day .

Grab Gadges and Evos cash !

Well, looks a bit weird in that colour!
I'm telling anyone to look for anything in particular - but if they don't find anything they have no food, no medical supplies, no ammunition. No game in fact.
Mortar and ammunition will be in separate locations so either useless on their own. I don't see great use being put to the mortar - might be useful to retrieve prisoners maybe, since a shell would be lobbable in that area without to much tree cover.

We'll need to give TLFX a few weeks notice for ordering; so let me know what you need nice and early.

Just checked what pyro I have - 15 mortar rounds (that should be sufficient for this game) and 20 ball grenades. So we are sorted for stashed pyro, just need to consider what to use as part of the game.

Er, nope. Not possible. Krylon dont make BS381 (and it needs to be Krylon Fusion to stick to the PVC, cos nowt else will!)

There are compatbility issues with certain types of paint. Of course David, if you want to pick it up and do it yourself, be my guest!

LOL, I'll have a pot ready on the Saturday! Anyhoo, it matters not.

As a side note I'm trying to get a pot of BS381 499 Service Brown, B&Q are OK with bloody German RAL codes but not British Standard
