a lot of this is later war footage, no4 enfields, late war uniforms on both sides, later mark german tanks etc, but quite a bit looks like early war stuff.

Nigel... you are ace... I've been looking for pictures of BEF in service dress for ages. There are scenes in there with Royal Artillery guys wearing exactly what I plan to wear at Ariel. :good:

I most definitely owe you a beer mate!

What a horrid bit of revisionism. The BEF was 'The most powerful army on the allied side'? Never. The Americans must still not like the French much? Remember they changed the name of French Fries to 'Freedom Fries'?
That aside much of that footage is computer coloured b/w stock. Dont rely on it for colour reference.

Yup... agreed... The colour wasn't right. I noticed the webbing mostly looked unblancoed for a start.

Yes, they've done a whole series with the coloured footage. Although it is a bit dodgy in places, it does actually bring it to life IMO.

You'd best be prepared for an "anti-farb" heart attack at Ariel then! Seeing as 90% of the Brit side DON'T have an SMLE and will be using No4's, Thompsons and Stens.

Yes as well as lots of No4's there's also quite a few shots with guys with nets on their tommy helmets. Yet another thing not done at Dunkirk.

I think I've supplied almost all of the Brit team for Ariel with a hessian helmet cover, so at least we shouldn't see any helmet nets.

I might lug the Bren around this time seeing as

a) it seems to refuse to work for anybody else
b) at least I can (for a change) take the moral high ground in the accuracy stakes
c) I'm assuming you want to try out your new No.4 Scaley
