A very British hand shake and "how do you do" to all you Brits coming to Clipper. I thought I would seize the day and start a topic for us to chatter and plan our defeat of the Bosch at Clipper :good:

A lot of us know each other and I have had the pleasure of some of your british airsoft fighting spirit already.

So:

What uniform are you planning to go with? Are you going to badge up?
What weapons are you going to bring along to fight with (and whats the reserve weapon when the first stops working  !?
If there is a consensus and a few people want to rock a particular look then i am keen.

Before I get to carried away... men of the 43rd: Gav, Martin, Charlie, Jay, Wattsy, Thruppy, Tom Owen, Chris Gilman, Fremsley and Jimbo
.... Your king needs you!

GOD SAVE THE KING

Current Arsenal: ICS Grease Gun, ICS M1 Garand, MP40, Viva Arms Sten Mk2.

Well after five plus years of ww2 airsofting this will be my first outing as a Brit. Just paid for a set of 37 pattern webbing, got the battle dress trousers, gaiters and ammo boots so just a jacket to go. Hoping to pick up a Sten and got my Stirling as back up should it go wrong. Not badging up, I want to keep this as generic as possible.

God Save The King!

I shall be in Wool and will certainly be sticking 43rd Division patches on but I haven't decided whether just to be lazy and stick as Reconnaissance Regiment or to go Infantry or even Engineer. Clipper seems to have been mainly 214th Brigade which was the division's third Brigade for AoS strips and made up of (according to Wiki's page for Clipper):

British 214 Infantry Brigade (assigned to the 43rd Infantry Division)
7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry (attacking Niederheid)
1st Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment (attacking Tripsrath and Rischden)
5th Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (attacking Hochheid)
5th Battalion, Dorset Regiment (detached from 130 Brigade) (attacking Bauchem)

If there's a consensus on Regiment I'm happy to follow.

Weaponwise probably Sten with Thompson and Lee Enfeld in reserve.

Cheers

Charlie

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

I can neither confirm nor deny that anyone wearing DCLI insignia will receive free chocolate for superb regimental taste.

Anyone looking for some information on the 43rd at Clipper should have a look for Patrick Delaforce's book 'The Fighting Wessex Wyverns'. I think it's available for a few quid on Kindle and it has a chapter devoted to the division's role during the operation.

I'll be in my BD, probably unbadged. I've already removed my corporals stripes, looking forward to being led by Gav.

I will probably bring the Bren for this, No4 and Sten as backup.

Cheers
Martin

Sadly, Chris Gilman has had to pull out due to work, but luckily I have a willing volunteer as his replacement!
Unfortunately, this has coincided with my trusty Sten deciding to shed this mortal coil (and some gear teeth), so it looks like my reserve Thompson will be going to my friend and I'll be using my custom Enfield. I enjoy a bit of bolt-action action, I'm just hoping it behaves itself (my friend and the gun).

This also means I have a friend who has a woeful lack of woollens in his life at the moment. I'm hoping to be able to get him a passable kit together, but if anybody is able to lend a spare BD blouse in size 44-46, that would be a tremendous help. If anyone has a set of trousers size 34-36 to go with this, that would be even better! :good:

Thanks,

Tom Owen
