Operation Husky
This is the official booking thread. As with Bryansk, once you have booked and payment has cleared your name will appear on this list.
Before you book some words about the event.
1. Camping is available on the Friday for those who wish to stay, otherwise you'll need to be on site by 9am on the Saturday.
For the Saturday night, both sides will camp in the same spot, so there will be plenty of opportunity for fraternising, however given the condition of some of our players on 'the morning after', the difficult terrain on site and the potential for hot days we would ask you to keep alcohol consumption to sensible proportions. Kermit and Old 'Un will be making sure that you all adhere to this request. (Yeah, right....)
2. The event is to run over 24 hours, with a break for sleeping, not just a day game and the game will be paced to account for this. You need to be reasonably fit and make sure that you are adequately equipped and have enough food and water for the entire weekend.
3. We may put on some night action if players are keen to do so, otherwise assume it'll die down around 8pm on the Saturday.
4. Usual CiA rules regarding kit, weapons and camping:

-Paypal to treasurer@ww2airsoft.org.uk
-Cash or cheque payable to 'Comrades in Arms' and sent to:
18 Cranmoor Crescent

Include your full name, forum name and side playing.
20 places a side to start with although we will go up to 25 if we can keep the sides balanced.
Game fees are non-refundable however your place is transferable. If you are unable to attend then you may make your own arrangements to swap with another player, you can use the forum for this purpose. We only ask that you transfer Axis for Axis, Allied for Allied. If you want a side swap it must be approved by CiA organisers before transfer.

I assume we are giving Gadge And Rich free places for Husky?

No, why? ![]()

'Cos we always have done!
Now got this:
Dave,
I've been biting my lip all day.. lol!
I see Huskey has opened for booking... Do me an Gadge need to worry about getting payment to you guys?
I know Gadge for one is feeling a bit short for dosh... heh (doesn't he always!)
Anyway let me know!
If not then I'll get my money sent off as soon as I can!
Cheers,
Richard

I know. I guess so, but in what capacity? And are we going to make them additional to the 20 per side we are booking on? My thoughts are that if we continue to offer them freebie places then they need to assist us in some way rather than just playing their own game.
Whilst I'm at it, I've had a PM from Hopeless who's concerned about the 'no camo' rule for the Germans. He has a feldgrau tunic but only has camo trousers and is reluctant to buy anything else. I'm fine with it, any objections?
Thinking about it, there might be some who only have camo smocks and no feldgrau. What about if we say that weraing Zeltbahn is ok? I assume they were standard issue across the German army.
Ta
S

Hopeless - well, it's a bit like saying no Americans at Bryansk or no Brits at Eagle or no Russians at Wotan. The option of partisan is there for this purpose. A pair of HBT trousers or something grey/green shouldn't be beyond him - he spends a fortune on guns but doesn't come to games!
So, no, it's makes a scenario a bit rubbish if we say anything goes!
Splinter zeltbahns are fine for Heer obviously, not SS zelts though, nor smocks.
Since the 'split' we have always offered G & R free games as an acknowledgement of past CiA involvement - it's not conditional on an organising role (although I have asked Gadge to be my No2 for Husky).
If we get them in without being chargeable to John then all it costs is £30 lost 'profit' (2x£15) - if we can't swing that then I don't think we can pay their fee for them. And no, their places aren't additional to the 20 - they are a regular player as far as anyone else is concerned.

Don't blame me when the game doesn't take a 'profit' then.....even though Bryansk did!
Regarding the camo, Neill Blume has also PMd me asking why he can't wear his camo stuff. Dave, can you just post up a more definitive reason than I could give suggesting alternatives. I know nothing about German outfits.
S

Yup, I'll post up some stuff, I'll be revamping the web site over the long weekend as well - SS wen't in Sicily. Like Bryansk pushing the envelope a bit giving peeps a reason to but Russian kit, Husky gives them an opportunity for mediteranean uniforms as well as Italian or indeed an alternative German uniform!
Bryansk made a £3.63 profit - Husky has the potential to make a bit more for the kitty as the mark-up is higher and there should be higher player numbers. All four of us were offered free places at Varsity - only I took advantage of it!

I know, it's fine. I imagine Rich will be at some event or packing his bags for Detling though.

No, the two of them are chomping at the bit to come (it's a big S Staffs battle) - this will be the first event where they can play at a game as S. Staffs.
Weirdly, despite creating PBI as a S. Staffs unit they chose Varsity as their first game, a battle in which S Staffs didn't participate in so everyone badged up as Ox & Bucks!
And they got the cap badge wrong, I bet they were mortified - what would the reenactors think!
Anyhoo, how about a compromise?
1. We charge them £15 each and get six of us as 'organisers' so John won't charge us (we end up with £30 cash net)
2. We charge them £30 site fee each and get six of us as 'organisers' so John won't charge us (we end up with £60 cash net)
3. We charge them £30 site fee each, pay John the £30 each as paying players (we end up neither better nor worse off)
BTW - Advance notice, TaffyJohn will want paying cash on the day (he pays the farmer in cash). We must still get a signed receipt off him though! ![]()

I'd charge Rich £30 - he can afford it , to subsidise Gadge , that way it costs us just £30 if we have to pay . For the record I was not offered a free place at Varsity ...in fact Gadge made it quite clear he didn't want me there . They've already had a free game on us (Eagle- which also benefited the game) but I'm fucked if we're going to keep freebieing them in unless they are playing an active role in organising the game (like what Diggah was supposed to do) . Major I've invite for free every game coz I like him and think he adds to any event , Gareth and Rich .....less so .
Ah, you see, I didn't want it to cost us anything - I certainly don't want CiA to subsidise their places. My three options were either cash neutral or cash positive.
Bit weird that you weren't wanted at Varsity Guy - that's news to me. Why?...
Yes, fair point about giving something back in return, which R&G won't be at Husky.
Inviting Major for free will cost us money though - just because he is liked shouldn't mean he doesn't have to pay - again there should be input in return.

Yes, I don't think we should give Major a free place to all games, just one he 'crews' at, to coin Josh's beloved phrase.
I'd go for charging them £30 each as a reduced off and pass it on - cash neutral. Rich is useless as an organiser anyway. I'm fed up of Gadge's excuses regarding money. He should get a fecking job. He doesn't seem to have any problem with his back running club nights......
To be honest, I'm pretty sure I wasn't offered a free place at Varsity, at least not personally, it may have been on a thread somewhere though. It's academic anyway as I wasn't able to make it.

Charge 'em both £30.....
Fucking cheap at the price, and if they don't like it, they can fuck off.

Yith's booked.
Also, Oddball has booked and has said in the booking. "With tank if I can get it ready even if just an ornament!"
Thoughts?
S

Thought I had put the situation re Oddball on a thread somewhere...

Or maybe it was a convo with Guy?
Anyhoo, Oddball has now sorted a legal trailer out for his tank but is caring for his mother at the mo and is short of cash and still has some stuff to do on the tank. So, he may bring it - if it's a last minute thing then he will just bring it to be used as a static prop or parked in the camp. If he can plan further ahead he is happy for us to write it into the scenario and understands that for H&S reasons it will be scripted (routes & roles). He doesn't mind it being shot at either.
Motive in-game use depends on our approval of safety - otherwise we will use it as an objective/prop.
(Steve D told me his girlfriend has left him - she said either the tank went from the front garden or she was leaving. Nigel said 'bye then'
)
