You could say hardcore in the sense that, unlike the SAS, they won't have the luxury of a tented encampment. Shelter will be where they find it (or more likely, make it). The last thing they want to do is be caught so will need to be both unencumbered and freely mobile yet at the same time completely immobile when needs be, possibly for long periods of time.

Jeds were carefully selected to be fit but above all free-thinking, resourceful, stoical and of adventurous spirit in order to conduct unconventional warfare behind enemy lines. They only had their inner strength and the support of teammates to get them through some pretty extraordinary and terrifying experiences.

I'll be there, Jedburgh for me.

If said chap who is travelling long distances is more than welcome to borrow kit of mine, should they require it. I have enough stuff to kit out another Jed/SAS type.

Good point Webby. In fact if there are any people looking to travel from abroad for this event (and if there's one event this year worth travelling from abroad for, this is it!) then there are plenty of people willing to loan out kit.

Family and work commitments pending, I'm definitely up for this one! I'm certain my brother will be too. Both Germans of course :good:

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

Pfefferwurst - a type of salami encrusted with crushed green peppercorns. You can get it a Waitrose but you'll have to go twice because you're bound to eat it all well before the event.

I was going to make a joke about sharing a Frenchman's sausage with the Officer, but I don't think I will. I shall just leave it to you all to fill in the blanks there.

I studiously avoided German sausage gags 'cos there is nothing worse than gagging on a German sausage. Hmmm, I seem to have managed to un-avoid gags. I blame Craig for leading me into temptation.

This isn't booking any where near as fast as I expected. Either way, it will be good to see you again Josh !

Myself and John Birchett are coming and we are bringing a new recruit as well, and inspired by Defiance and Inglorious (and cute pictures of young, nubile French Partizans I found on Google) we may go for more of a resistance type look that straight Army. Seriously though, I am looking forwards to some proper sneaking around. Unfortunately I can't make the training weekend but I'll start training in my own little head.

Josh is going....i have changed my mind

Just to keep you up to speed martin, it's SAS for me a the Chambers. Not mix and mach frenchie type.

About time you lot joined the war effort, be going for 3 years now.

Be great to see and shoot with you lads, been far to long :good:

 What are you on about Nige? A weekender makes an event worth travelling abroad for - more gameplay relative to travel time. We are drawing on our experience with Guy's A2C weekender where there was a huge contingent of Dutch who were crying out for an event worth the effort to travel abroad for. Mind, we did have a bod come over from France for TEHL event a couple of years ago so you have to admire some people's huge effort to even attend a one day event, as at Freshman.

Completely irrelevant post about Jedburgh...but, that French bloke at TEHL (sorry, I don't know his name) was awesome! he was with me at the last battle, delaying the enemy. He must have plugged 10 Yanks in a period of around a minute. Very impressive.

OK, back to Jedburgh.

We're a bit incommunicado at the moment due to work etc, but I (i.e. Barrie only) am a possible for this as German.

Unfortunately I can't confirm until I have a date for moving house.
