OK, I've opened the booking for the German side.
Guy, we need to have a think about how we're going to take payment from the Jedburghs. I suggest once we've approved them, we ask them to pay within a week.
Chommers, what's the best way to register this in the accounts? I can't close the current accounts yet, but need to start registering the Jedburgh payments. Is it best to stick in another section under each area for Jedburgh and keep it separate (but adding all together for the profit/loss bit) or just lump it all in?
Accounts - yes, that's a complication.
Yes, I think you are right - Is it best to stick in another section under each area for Jedburgh and keep it separate (but adding all together for the profit/loss bit)
When you are in a position to close off Ariel then make a copy of sheet, delete Jedburgh stuff and so this will be the position at the end of Ariel. On the copy sheet remove the Ariel bookings/expenses and this will be the Jedburgh accounts.
In other words, until Ariel is closed it will have Jed stuff, temporarily.
Alternatively, if you wish, there is no reason not to start up a new sheet for Jedburgh just listing income and expenses - you can copy it all into the accounts when Ariel is closed. It just means you will need to keep an eye on profit/loss but I can't see we will be plunged into deficit - you know what cash we have in the bank anyway.
Leave Jedburgh bookings to me .
1 I'm getting a list of volunteers for the task , but until we've started taking German bookings we can't confirm anything in terms of numbers.
2 To keep evader identity and numbers hidden from you three , I propose to do one of three things.
a Paypal me directly , and I'll pay it into the accounts after the event
b Agree that we'll take cash from them on the gate
c Let them paypal direct into the CiA account on the day before the event , when hopefully it'll be too late to make any difference.
Paypal WELL in advance please. On the gate and Paypal the day before is FAR too open to people not turning up if it rains (or whatever).
Still unclear as to why you need to keep their names secret from us four though.....
NB: Steiner has already PMd me to ask if he can play Jedburgh, and as I haven't replied (because I was out) he's paid asking to be put on the Jedburghs.....
Shall I refund and ask him to contact you Guy, or just accept it and move on?
Still unclear as to why you need to keep their names secret from us four though.....
Hehe, I've had this conversation with Guy already!
OK, had a chat with Guy and worked it out. They either paypal me or Guy direct in July. Secrecy is fine, makes it a little bit more fun for us!
Attached are the joint Aerial/Jedburgh accounts as they stand up to 7pm on Monday 15th July.
Hmmm, only two bookings for the German side. I was expecting a few more than that by now.
Guy, out of interest. How many people have enquired about being Jedburgh, and how many of those are regular German players?
Got between 8-12 booked, 99% of the US/UK . Only Steiner so far as a German .
Cool.
I see a week later we have a grand total of 3 Germans ......oh well just don't start with I told you so .
If it doesn't come to pass then perhaps we can throw our weight behind the AFRA December game?
Part of convos with PD
Will be setting out our "rules" for gamelplay and running them by you - Chrono limits will be standard - Wound rules will vary - I want you to give me your thoughts on this. Regen will also vary a bit as will Medic rules. Medics will be immune unless they pull a weapon, threaten or fire at anyone. We aim to run "The Geneva Convention" as it were.......... I'l get it all to ya shortly - We know whatw e are doing re-enactment wise - we are simply winging it airsoft wise - and we don't want to make it too different from the CiA model as that is proven to work. Also you will note the authentynazi has been put in the box - WE want high standards but will not tolerate snobbery (from re-enactors mainly!) and will make big allowances in order for people to be able to take part.
I'm of the mind these days (and publically displayed it would be arrogant) that those who don't measure up can foxtrot oscar. RE-enactors are a bunch of dressy uppers mate - They don't buy enough books and too much kit. Airsofters are quite honest in their motives and their outlook. It's refreshing.
The AFRA thing has become something of a juggernaut - People try to stop it but to do so they have to throw themselves under the wheels. This results in a slight jolt and sometimes a change of direction!
Underneath it's all one hobby - I can recognise that. There are just different aspects of it and the old fashioned bastards will wither on the vine. This year is the beginning of a new phase in re-enactment and also WWII airsoft. I hope this will benefit you and the cross fertilisation will be positive. Let's suck it and see eh?
Yes, the only person who showed any interest at St Lo was Marsha.
Let's wait until we've pushed it a bit more at Aerial then bin it with a month to go if necessary.
OK, as the JEds are over-booked is a decision going to be made soon? Would be good to get them booked asap so the rejected applicants can book on as German.
I'm going to start a kit-swap thread on the public forum to allow those who aren't regular German players to source borrowed kit, where available.
S
OK, we currently have ten people booked on for this. We've got to think about what we're going to do if there aren't any bookings after Aerial.
I like Chommers' idea of having a training weekend in November to prepare for PD's weekend.
If we have to, I'd prefer to issue full refunds via cheque and re-open booking for a November event as and when.
So, what's the contingency?
Obviously we need to answer a few questions before we can decide, such as:
- Have the successful Jed applicants been informed that they're on the game?
Have we informed unsuccessful Jed applicants so that they can book on as Germans?
Are there any other markets we can exploit?
What's our cutoff date to call it off?[/list:u:h0tcab9u]
Its Jay's idea! I'm not keen on the training thing - smacks of Gunman 'Operations'. We either have a game or we don't, can't see much point in a camping exercise. Most people that will go to PD's game will be reenactors - a few airsofters are interested but in my opinion PD hasn't done a very good publicity job. Heh, I told him so! He should have launched like we do - a fully rounded package that either captures the imagination or it doesn't. By blabbing before time it just raises more questions than it answers and so we see people making assumptions and making up answers in their heads, generally negatively.
Yes, I did think that about his trickle of information.
Still, my above questions do need addressing.
OK people, despite having changed the date to hopefully avoid the bank holiday issue , as off today we're still about 20 germans short of an event .
Since we have to agree the site, commence work on the event, start spending money etc , to be quite blunt if we cannot get a pretty full German side by the end of July then we'll have no other option than to cancel .
So.......... last word on the subject , if you plan on coming then please book in the next coupla weeks .31st July is the go / no go date for us
OK, it's the 31st on Friday so we need to have a plan of how we're going to handle this.
Are we going to leave bookings open for a bit longer to see if we get any further bookings or just call it off?
Guy, have you confirmed Hunter bookings yet?
S
Guy is doesn't have interweb just at the moment, guess he will be back online at the weekend?
There are a few who have posted that they will be coming and sorting cash out, but whether that will be enough I dunno!
