Righty-ho, having run through it with David at Cassino, here is the plan......
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Thoughts on the game plan:
1: Can we think of something less anachronistic than plasticuffs for binding hands?
2: Sunrise is at 5am on Sunday 11th, wouldn't it make sense to reveille at this time?
We can use some rope instead of plasticuffs, no problem. As for reveille, 0600hrs is to give those driving a long way a reasonable amount of sleep, that's the only reason!

No biggy but since you raised it - binding hands is an issue I raised and I'd rather not physically restrain anyone - I can't see any vital reason to do it and plenty of reasons not to do it. Being proper guarded with loaded weapons is sufficient incentive not to run away and running away with bound hands is asking for trouble (or even just moving people around). A bag over the head would be a sufficient shock to most normal people I think!
Somewhat off-topic - it is very easy to slip ropes bound by non-experts anyway. As a kid I was fascinated by escapology - in those days street entertainment was everywhere in London and loved the guys escaping from chains, padlocks and tied mailbags. So much so I read up on the 'secret' world of escapology and my party trick was escaping from bound ropes! Hmmm, sounds slightly purvey now but this was before purvey was invented.
Back on topic - I quite like the idea of detainees being allowed to option of escaping if the opportunity arose - either by negligent guarding (as witnessed all the time at Alsos where I not only walked out of captivity, tricked the guards and broke free or just turned their own weapons on themselves) or by rescue by team mates as an on-the-fly sub-mission.
As for when to get up in the morning I'd say 6am is fine (7am is great for the Germans!!) and a civilised and orderly start is he way to go. If you get up at 5am you have seven hours gaming to get done - that's a hell of a long time.
And a bearing on this is the question of midnight to 6am activity. If we do this then organisers need to be up for something like 40 hours!
Between midnight and 0600hrs wouldn't be a problem for the Germans, with 3 organisers who could rotate but, the SAS and Jed's have 1 organiser each and, we both need our beauty sleep! If the Germans want to stag on through the night, feel free to arrange it. The dark and noises of the forest should keep them on edge!
I've not got a problem with prisoners attempting to escape, it could be fun!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I'm not sure how rotating German organisers would work TBH so need enlightenment. I know two hours sleep would be next to useless for me as it takes me an hour to get to sleep when camping - I'm not even sure I sleep at all as it seems I'm awake the whole time!
Yes, I suppose bound hands can be a PITA. Perhaps firmly restrained by guards would work, but no stress positions...
I'm quite good a tying people up these days ......sure I could find some period restraints
You and Gadge should get on like a house on fire then - bondage is one of his specialities (true!)
I'm quite good at restraining people myself . However, for game purposes, just getting them to sit on their hands, or keep them behind their backs will suffice, if we don't want to tie anyone up. I'm just a bit concerned they may try to move the sack from their heads if we're too lenient with prisoners of war.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Which reminds me - we need a stack of sacks, both for prisoner headgear and to build a MG nest.

Hello mate,
Trust all is going well with Jedburgh. We are re-organising a few things with events so won't be there on the Saturday PM as previously arranged. We are running another 24hr event down at the farm site so will be otherwise engaged while you are setting up etc. I will sort keys out for you. I need to go to GC to pick up the mortar tubes we have stored there so may actually leave the keys hidden at the gate for you. Otherwise can mail you a spare set. I will prob go to GC very early on Saturday to pick up the tubes.
Hope this doesn't cause any problems.
told him ot post me the keys. looks like we're on our own all weekend
Talking briefly to Guy today and he said the Germans won't have much room for a camp between the trees - which took me by surprise. We are supposed to be an encampment not hiding in the woods! Was there not an open area we can use like the US had last time or indeed where the IED crew set up their camp? We really need a centralised area to work in (and for allies to attack) and this means space for eating, radio station, command.

You're joking right? Last time we had a tiny bit of habitable space were we could just about erect 8 pup tents. It was on the edge of a wooded and heavily rutted area of forest!
Nope. Move the small tents away into the trees and use the whole area for command & fire and it would be fine for our purpose - the Germans before had just a deeply rutted slope in dense trees with enough room for one tent between each tree and that would be hopeless as any meaningful camp.

I'm sorry but there is no wide open grassy spaces at GC at all . ....big tents on the road , smaller tents between the rows of trees. TBH in Normandy if it wasn't in a wood it was attacked by Typhoons.
Small tents in the woods, big tents on the road with cam nets (if available) over them, job done.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Not grassy spaces no, but clearings as at IED and US camps at Churchill's - some clear ground where there can be a distinct centre of ops. Heh, its going to be impossible for allies to attack the radio station if its in the middle of dense fir trees!
Talking about the US camp at Churchill's:
You'll have to do some tree surgery then. The branches were so low we could only pitch pup tents under them.
The main problem with that area is that there's no vehicular access at all. It was a huge PITA getting our stuff there and we only had tents and skirmish eqpt.
Also, that's right where the Jeds harbour area will be.
You're thinking of here right?
The track marked on the map running from x - o is impassable by vehicle.
I'm not saying put the German camp there - just that we need somewhere to put a German camp. Squeezed in between trees in a dense pine forest will be pretty shabby and impossible to attack. The IED lad's camp was perfect - they had tarps strung up, fire, tents and seat all over the place...
