Yeah, I don't think limited kit is an issue - the SAS's kit is pretty much wear what you like anyway.

Mortar round numbers. If the mortar is firing off every hour then that is a fair number of rounds, let alone the rounds used in anger. I suppose, when static, we could just use MK5's dropped down the tube for effect and economy? The mortars get through a fair few rounds just ranging in!

One of the things to resolve is the main focus of the SAS/Jed activity on the second day - mention was made of a nebel. We questioned that the other day - allies need to attack something (and blowing up is good). I have a box of pyro at work - I'll list what I have tomorrow.

When the TLSFX order is placed, can you check the diameter of the rounds please as there is a rumour going round that they might have changed the size of them - with obvious knock-on effects for the kit designed to fire them.

Just got in from work, where I used my time productively between rolling around on the floor with smackheads, to print off the gameplan to bring to Cassino, where I'll run through it with Dave before posting it up on Monday. It's changed a bit from the draft, to simplify it and to give commanders a lot of freedom and inject some realism.

As for props building, Jay, how are the mortars coming along? We also need a basic radio direction finder (I'll build that) and something that looks like a radio base station (can be fairly basic, as it will get blown up!). No need to waste time, money and energy on a nebelwerfer, as a mortar will do the same job.

We can make it quite pyro intensive, to make up for the lack of them at Boryszyn. Obviously, the SAS and Jed's will need them to blow up objectives but, the Germans will also need them to "clear" roadblocks and mines, etc. It's a site we can make some noise at, so why not make maximum use of that? A couple of big naphta charges would be great for blowing up the main objectives.

My problem with wiring the charges to the objectives is that we'll want the game to be reasonably fluid at that point. Wiring the charges will:

a: Take a while.
b: Need an exclusion zone.
c: Stall the game.
d: Take one of the organisers out of the action for a while.

Hence I thought Mk9s would be more effective for that purpose.

MK9's would do. I just thought that setting a charge, then running out the wire to a detbox whilst under fire would be a nice game moment, followed by a big bang and ball of flame and smoke. I've got no idea of civilian H&S on explosives, so, I'll leave that stuff to you Steve, as my military explosives knowledge is a bit more "rough & ready".

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to, but having tried to use wired pyros in game like that it's always fallen flat on its face. For a start, if I wired it, I'd have to keep eyes on it to blow it. Because of the 'panicked' nature of the end of the event it's likely that Germans will be running all over the place and any form of crowd control or exclusion will be nigh-on impossible.

Napthas need a pretty big exclusion zone DON'T THEY GUY??? :| :giggle: Trying to maintain that in the heat of battle is difficult.

My reason for choosing Mk9s is that we can simulate wiring the charge and say something like "you have to control the target for 30 seconds to wire the charge" spike it with a Mk9 and get the feck out of there whilst maintaining immediate control of the area.

If I were to wire a big charge, make a run for it to clear the area only to turn around and find a load of Germans sat on the charge it'll be a bit shit.

NB: We did it at Josh's D-Day game with bang in a box and that Tony L handed out. It worked ok, but we had bigger numbers and had to call the area excluded before blowing. If we're trying to sneak in undetected (yeah, right!) that's not necessarily going to be possible.
