It would be great to sort this as soon as we can. Chaps need to book hols so an announcement sooner rather than later.
As I understand it Jay is doing a recce of a site down south - Spec Ops or sommat. If he gives the OK then Jay and Guy will do scenario/site recce from therein.
So, as soon as Jay gives the thumbsup of site suitability then we can set a date and price and whack it up on the calendar. But I can't remember when Jay is doing the initial site visit!

Can't make the IED E&E in April I'm afraid. Too much airsoft in a month IMHO. I'm doing the PBI game in March too.
I won't be coming as I have the Crich LH weekender the following weekend.
Might come and visit you guys at Crich with Kerstin. We can do a 40's dance demo!

In short, I don't think its suitable for an E&E event. Reasons:
1: Site has a few too many public footpaths. V. popular with walkers.
2: Closest area that it's possible to camp in (think along CR lines) is a good 20 mins walk from the safezone.
3: Fuck all useful tracks on the site. Those that do exist are heavily rutted by forestry equipment - i.e. you wouldn't get anything short of a Unimog down 'em.
4: Due to the nature of the site - large numbers of different "patches" of hazel, broadleaf, FC type pine plantation, its a pig to find your way around. The lack of tracks makes getting a reference point for navigation purposes a nightmare.

How about Combat South? The site should be a reasonable cost - the Vietnam weekender was £20 a head IIRC! Big site (though not vast like Churchills or Bryansk), has a respectable constructed village (not ghey castles but church, bridge and huts/houses) which can be an occupied village for the German camp. Some patrol-able tracks throughout site, varied terrain in terms of trees & vegetation and quite a lot of hollows and rises.
I know CS extremely well. Been playing there on and off for a very long time.
3 problems:
1: Big site? Er, no, it isn't - and i've walked the whole perimeter of it.
2: Site velocity limit is 350FPS Max. For everything - so that's no K98's then.
3: Not a good site to get vehicles around (only a couple of tracks there)

LOL, not big? I've played end to and and it's plenty big enough for such a small game and was absolutely shattered moving from one end to another - and it's all usable gaming area. Odd, I don't remember any chrono'ing or any restriction on kit.
Anyhoo, other sites. Well, there is the one Steiner used - Ground Zero, fine for a couple of motor bikes. Or that site in Wales that Alpha thing use (that we discussed a while back).
As for other sites down south, dunno, that's your territory Jay!
There is the IED site in Herefordshire but I don't want to go back to the Bryansk site again.
How big do we want anyway? We only used small parts at Bryansk and Churchill, so don't need anything of that size - just a site we can use all of.
Steve and Russ aren't stupid. They've been in the game (pun intended) for an awful long time - and they know what velocities a K98 will do, even on plain old 134a, in the middle of summer.
Regarding other sites in the South that are large enough (and i'm thinking 750-1000 Acres), there's a few people I can speak to, but i'd rather cut my nuts off than talk to Neil at GZ. I have MAJOR professional issues with the fucker.
If you look at the ground covered at Churchill's, you'll see that its a lot more than you think.....

Herefordshire IEDsite is 80 acres ...about 10 times too small . I don't think they've got any games planned ofr it either so far this year
We ran E&E at CRevenge's site , thats about big enough at 700 acres for 8-10 men to avoid 30 chasers for 24 hours . Do not want to do less, it needs to be challenging .

Personally I thought the CR site was *just* big enough for this sort of thing. Bryansk site was bigger and better.

GC at 700 acres is big enough , Ceri at 1200 is ok too .
Anyway , cheers for checking it out Jay , at least we know in plenty of time now .
Nothing wrong with revisiting GC being as most of the players only saw about 1/3 of the site!

That was my thought too , however there are potential problems.
1 It means dealing with IED again , not the end of the world but after A2C I was sorta up for a clean break . I plan to quietly suss them out in April . I'm sure we could go back , it was just not my preference . They are nobbers IMHO .
2 Some of the site has been deforested. I've not seen it for 11 months , but Ed tells me theres bee na lot of logging . I could have a quiet trip over as a MOP to assess . I would perosnally prefer running at Glyn Cregiog (GC or CR to you) than Bryansk , partyl due to the terrain but also the familiarity and access of the site to me .
3 There's also the possibilty that TaffyJohn might have a few sites up his sleeve , all N Wales though .
Other than that a bit stumped at the mo for alternatives , KGBs site in cornawall ???
