Come on let's be having them,
A personal moment for me was this morning assisting the Sturmpionere by being the one to find the tractor crossing on that field and getting to the bridge and pulling in the rope that would have given Kroot and his gang the chance to deny us the bridge.
Moment ruined by the wind was the piper through the smoke, the wind blew away the smoke and the sound of the piper which had it been a southerly or northerly breeze like usual, would have been very effective. It was so strong that had the Allied team started their defence in that ditch we would have had a better battle on our hands. Still the learning curve thing, we've never been allowed access to that land before an who would have been able to counter for that wind would do to the battle? As you can plainly see it's working arable farmland and the farmer was chomping at the bit to plough and so that field, by this time tomorrow night it will be ploughed furrows that you wouldn't want to try and cross, let alone be allowed to!

Worst moment was walking back from safe zone after some first aid to be captured by the enemy! I had to remove all weapons as the short cut back to the first aid station took me alongside a public road. On the way back I walked straight into the hands of 3 enemy troops and the gameplan went wonky for the morning from there on!

Getting 4 kills with my rifle. :D Crossing the ditch with Bosh and Boshman. Seeing the whole company walking line abreast across the dusty fields. :good:

The start on Saturday when Steiner and me went wide of our objective and used the wind to drop rounds in on the vickers mg, the closing on my own and taking the bunker.

Sundays start waving at the cars driving past and seeing that old lady sneering at us and swearing as she went past on the bus! And of course the water crossing.

"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

I think the matrydom run i TRIED and which would have taken out half of the german team had the damned grenade not been a dud! Charging out of the trees toward the germans who were utterly baffled by my charge!
Worst time, coming out of the bunker on day 1 part 2, 3 Mgs and a PPsh in my back, who didn't stop firing! Fair game though i didn't put my hand up because i was scared i would loose my hand!

Man is too clever to survive without wisdom

Best - Leading the charge/amble across the fields with the fab piper - getting us all killed of course!

Worst - not being allowed to summarily execute the Oberfeldwebel (despite having to endure his constant whinging in broken english) as a response to the Boche treatment of our commander the day before.

I'm a hero with coward's legs.

Best, has to be the piper led assult.

Worst, hiding in bushes for about an hour to ambush passing Germans, only to find that
- they have gone another direction entierly!
- No wine or baguette in my bag to pass the time with!

of and finding my tent was bust, Looks like someone had tried to walk through rather that round it as glass fiber poles just don't break like that!

To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"

Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.

Resistance is fertile

my tale starts in the afternoon on sunday when my beligered and morally battered scrach squad of defenders found ourselves at a bunker by a pond and a small copse when out of the wind came the remoseless advance of the invading bosh.spirrits were low ,i found myself at the leading corner of our defences.at first it looked like a repeat of the ignomineaus defeats that we had been suffering all weekend but as the engagement begun i felt the blood rise in me ,my trusty thompson began to sing to me and the battle joy came on me ,suddenly the enimy were slowed and i was freed .i know not what i said but i was jeering the hun and inviting them on into the dance of death, i could suddenly do no wrong,i took a wound but my position was sutch that aid came to me and once more i was sending out lead invitations to the afterlife.meny enimy fell before the inevitable numbers game caught up with me and i must have taken another hit and been carried from that place and as my conciousness fled my only hope was that my companions had been inspired by the death of an airbourn commando.

sunday morning started damp ,the rain dieing out but a strong wind swept across the cost ,my squad made up of factory workers, farm hands , men yet to shave ,yet men they were that morning ,home guard rejected by the army but in whos brave hands england was held, and a few regulars and veterans even men of the free french.we were armed with bill hooks ,shot guns modern rifles and equiped with warever was at hand.we held a bunker to the far end of our defences and i found myself in the company of the home guard rifleman named Sandy and of scotish decent i guessed by his accent though i never had the chance to ask ,we held a ditch to the flank of the bunker.the germans began the assault in there creeping fashion along the hedgerow ,on this side the bunker could bring few weapons to bear and sandy and i held a position to flank there assault ,we shot first one then two and three creeping bosh, neither of us spoke leaving our guns to do the talking ,things began to become cofused and our position was in jepardy as i heard the enimy talking to my left up the ditch ,i caught only a glimps and disouraged ony further advance with my sten, now we were assaulted on two sides an cut of from retreat .to my sorrow i never saw sandy die in the chaos of battle .i was now alone and assailed on two sides but they could not see me as i constantly moved trying to make them believe i was not alone .finally as i turned to offer some of my last bullets to my left along the ditch ,i was shot and wounded ,i called for a medick but a tall german loomed over me taking the sten from my nervless hand and in broken english explained i was his prisoner and no help was comeing .they pulled me from the ditch and pushed me down the track toward the tatters of retreating defenders and told to march ,stumbling forward only a few steps ,hoping for mercy when multiple rifles sounded behind me and the life was plucked from my wounded body.
