OK, you only live once.

I'm up for this: Charlie Bennett

Shame it might be a tad cold for KDs or the kilt!

Cheers

Charlie

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

Updated. Just had a rummage through my wardrobe (which is mostly ww2 militaria) and I'm tempted to wear my fallschirmjäger kit. In November it'll be cold enough to wear the fliegerbluse which is probably the smartest looking combat uniform ever.

Regards,

Ralph

Heer impression on a open day is something I've always thought was a very, very silly idea... Only one way to find out for sure! Put me on the list please:

Matt Buckley

Wake up there, Muttley, you're dreaming again!
You're not Robin Hood and you're not Gunga Din.
You're not a brave knight or a king who's been crowned;
You're just plain old Muttley, the snickering hound!

Would it make sense to hand out some leaflet pointing to the forum or so? People might not get why we are there with WWII gear. Just a thought.

Could do, as long as the owner is OK with us advertising the forum. He seems pretty nice but I know people can be funny about such things.

Ralph

The owner asks if we could have no SS runes or Swastikas visible please. He said the belt buckle is OK so as long as the swastikas aren't huge I think it'll be alright. So maybe chest eagles and field caps are a no. I doubt he'd turn anyone away on the day if it came down to it to be honest but let's make the effort. Could always just put a little bit of tape over chest eagles as field grey does look good.

Regards,

Ralph

No swastikas rather precludes Jerry kit. I was also thinking of FJ, but not much point if it is covered in tape. I have worn German kit to open days in the past, a minority of people generally instantly assume you are a Nazi.

Guess Russian or British then. Anyway, put me down. Martin Rapier.

Cheers

Yeah that's what I thought at first but I think we'd get away with the odd, small swastika if he's OK with the belt buckles and I'm still thinking of going as fj.

Ralph

I imagine he is more against people in full SS kit, swastika armbands etc than a Heer eagle that has a small swastika - Tony is a reenactor himself so knows the kit well.

Yes, I was thinking this is 'full Waffen SS rig' Tony isn't it? It is probably worth clarifying, although no SS runes and swastikas sounds pretty clear to me.

Cheers

I'm in for a "provisional" yes, might have to work, will know nearer the date. As for uniform, seeing as the Soviet one is coming together that's it, I do have Colonel SS with choice of cuff titles but that probably won't fit, and pointless if there's no "hakencross unt rune" could just muster US army, will have to search through.

I spoke to Tony and further clarified the issue over german uniform. Chest eagles, medals, buckles and field cap insignia are all OK. SS runes and swastika armbands are a no.

Still haven't decided what I'll wear yet but it's between Brit Infantry and FJ

Ralph

let the weather dictate the loadout closer to the time, effing cold = brit, not too effing cold = yank for me

Put me on the list. Do we want to get of most uniforms or rather small groups of different units? I can do Heer, FJ, GebJ or Russian.
I thought PanzerGr with camo shirt in boots would be nice or FJ.
... Although standard field grey looks good too especially in numbers.
