Hi
I am looking at running a weekend game at our ww2 airfield site of grafton underwood near Kettering. This is a large site covering the administration and accommodation areas of the old USAAF base. The site is woodland with ruined buildings and troop shelters.
I would be looking at march. To run this I would need numbers a minimum of 40. Would folk be interested ?
ah, I think I know that site. We were going to come down for a recce when it opened for play in the new year.
Hi, currently, there is no other event planned for March, and Northampton is a fairly central location, so you have a lot of factors on your side. Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7349
Good luck.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Think Josh has a weekend in march ear marked doesnt he? think it shows that on the diary topic.
It sounds good any photos of the site?
Ah found them

Would you like vehicles?
Free speech is expensive these days!
I was also looking into a game hear, it looks like a great venue! I'd defiantly be interested in coming along to this
Argh, sorry - what I forgot to check was the game organisers' plan for 2013, and there are actually two events planned for March already, soon to be announced.

I'd be interested in an event there, just probably not in march.
"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

I'd be up for something in Northampton.
Any idea when these March dates might be announced? At the moment we have a cancelled January event and only two events of no more than 15 a side until Crete in May. You can't give me too much notice - even if it is not confirmed it is helpful to know something may be happening so that decisions can be made about other things like booking flights to see the girlfriend...
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
CiA will be running a full day training event at Grafton in March. (There's been a bit of crossed wires I'm afraid).
We'll announce soon.

Gunman has a game planned for 23-24 March. As with CiA, just trying to sort out loose ends before a full public posting. Apologies for not posting 6/9 months in advance, sometimes things happen this way!

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

There is a lot of truth in that but at least I may be able to pay my money and turn up at some stage.
I really don't care about the details of an event at an early stage just which weekend is being mooted, if it has to be shifted then it has to be shifted and I can't expect my personal life to dictate that but I can try and arrange my personal life as far as is possible around the information that is available. At the moment I now know that there is a CIA training day which I would love to go on but I have no idea when it may be in March. It is only a couple of months away so not that long in terms of trying to still get cheap flights and coordinate with other people.
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
And there's the thing - to avoid messing people about games aren't announced until everything is in place and is a 100% solid, well organised event (date, scenario, location, accommodation info, price and so on). We could easily fill out the public section of the forum with mooted/possible/aspirational/vaguely hopeful/not remotely a goer/etc but this wouldn't be helpful at all - but out of sight of public gaze game organisers are working cooperatively to to ensure a full, varied and well spaced calendar of events.
Yes, we appreciate a long lead time is desirable but sometimes, because of a myriad of factors, it just isn't possible to lock down the variables as quickly as we would like.
(training day is planned for Sunday 3rd March but we are seeing if we can go from noon Sat to noon Sunday instead, making travel/sleeping easier and allowing an expansion of things to do...)

So hang on a minuet, just so I have it clear is seg posting about his own game or the CIA training day?! If he is posting about his own game then we should be saying when a better time would be to run the game instead of say no don't do a game that month?
If it is the CIA game then that is fair enuf. Just seams like we're drifting away from the original question that was asked.
Cheers
When you say themed weekend what does that entail?
I and others would be up for this if it had structure and was not a turn up blatfest

Seg posted about running an event in March which was separate to discussions that CiA were having with Close Action about using the Grafton site for a different event in March.
I got in touch with Close Action to clarify and there was confusion about the event, so we cleared that up.
Feel free to suggest to Seg when a good time would be! Though CiA are talking to Close Action about running another event at Grafton in addition to the training day.
Well I would but being a newb of only 6 months airsofting and the same ww2 airsofting, I think the vets and regular game organisers (such as CIA, Gunman ect) would be in a better position. I just thought instead of having our own descution on some one else's thread we could help him out. In my eyes, anyone that try's to put a game on is an asset to our hobby.
I can understand wear you are coming from also. Too many games in the same area and around the same time is bound to have an effect on numbers, and we all want good size teams when playing.
And now Iv ended up going on and on and deviating from the point so I'm gona shut up
Just trying to get it back to the original topic is all
The point you've missed us that we at CiA are already talking to Seg and his Close Action partner Chris about running an event at their site in March
Seg and Chris go way back in WW2 Airsoft and many on here have attended their games and used their sites to organise games too, I'm sure they know they could rely on our support to organise a game that didn't clash with something we'd already confirmed with them. We just had some crossed wires with this one as we already had their site confirmed for CiA's use in March.
Hope that makes sense.
