This weekend chaps i took part in a wwii re-enactment battle (blanks and all that) with a lot of wwii brit airborne re-enactors.
I just wanted to let you know that while some of these guys were 'spot on' many of these re-enactors looked bloody awful compared to the awesome standard of turn out you all displayed at the training day.
Putting on full 'stitch counter' mode here i saw.
no uniformity between members of the same group over minor things like how their cap badge was backed or worn.
scruffy long hair not combed back or hidden under a beret.
Blanco either not bothered with or worn like it was put on my a blind cat using its tail *or* so heavily applied it looked like the webbing was dyed bottle green.
Post war smocks used on public displays.
Post war webbing (i cant understand why someone can buy a ruddy jeep but wont spend £5 for the right pouches?)
Body armour that was worn *under* battledress let alone the denison being worn on top just to show off they had it.
Now dont get me wrong the purpose of this post is not to have a dig at others choices, the point is thatthis was a *public* battle and supposed to be informative and educational... the fact is you guys shine, you are in my eyes *much* better than many 're-enactors' i saw and you're not even having to be aware of a public presence.
So basically hats off to you guys, the best damn airsoft re-enactors i know!
(Even the CO of Yith and I's re-enactment group who is a stickler or detail said he was impressed by our training day pics)
Well done PBI!

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Ohand while it was a laugh... airsoft is much more fun and far less farcical.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Good stuff - I must say I was blown away at Hurtgen by how good the PBI contigent looked.
Same here. Looking brilliant is no longer the sole preserve of the Germans now, eh? ![]()

Thanks chaps, i just think its the little things that weld us together as a group like actually making sure we all have the same cap badge and backing, teaching each other how to blanco, sharing kit and ideas rather than just being a collection of guys with lots of kit doing it our own way.
I know it sounds silly but when a group of eight guys have five different ways of doing a badge (and being at the *regimental museum* where you could see how its done) looks very disparate, as does a variety of webbing shades from bottle green to off white!
Now if it were airsoft i wouldnt say a thing but folk paid to see these guys demonstrate history, I would have had no qualms about displaying PBI at my regiments museum and *knowing* we'd do the Staffords proud.
BTW if anyone still requires a Staffords cap badge they are only £3 from the museum, MKIV turtle helmet shells are £5 and full helmets £10.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Just out of interest, which group was it?
I've seen and also attended some shocking reenactment events. For example, Germans with rolled up sleeves and modern tattoo cuffs down the arms.

I'd rather not name names but I will give you a link to last years event with the same guys who i hasten to add have not changed their kit since.
Note one guy wearing a post was ITALIAN smock that looks *nothing* like a denison.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I see the guy...
Also, there was a tunic there with gebirgsjager waffenfarbe (correct me if the guy was portraying this branch), and the SS panzer kid had yellow waffenfarbe - is this tank destroyer colour?

yellow is recce or sometimes signals , depends on the period of the war.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
tank destroyer could be either pink for armour or red for artillary

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Lemon yellow = signals. ![]()

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
The germans in the trench look great tho. Although they were a bit annoyed at the anti-SS feeling there.
Well you cant realy blame the public for that, after all the germans are the bad guys remember
lol
Its the skulls on the hats that give it away....
Now if only they had symbols of agriculture and industry ![]()

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
