Hi Guys

For op lightning we'll be going as '2 commando'. Now normally this is pretty much the standard PBI kit with a beret swap...

However i'd like you to consider the following.

We're a group of commandos aiding communist partisans and have been in theatre for months... hence dress state is somewhat relaxed.

I would recomend that even if you have a super duper lovley denison that you leave it at home for this one and wear BD in denim or wool or shirtleeves for this one. If you DONT HAVE BATTLEDRESS then done worry just wear your denison.

Equally a mix of denim KD and wool kit is acceptable. Keep webbing order light as well, we dont need a full issue of kit hanging off us.

Gaiters/anklets would also be pretty much optional.

As again wiht relaxed standards its cool if you dont shave for this one as you'll be trying to fit in with the scruffy locals.

You may also want to throw a civilian shirt in with your kit in case you feel the need to wander into the towns and villages. Similarly the odd bit of captured axis kit or civilian items can be use sparingly (by this i mean say an mp40 pouch, german map case, civilian belt, may be *one* of us may wear jack boots etc - what i dont mean is wearing enemy camouflage clothes or headress)

Nige/scaleybacks impression is a very good example.

So basically what i'm saying is that its totally ok to come to the event in our rgualr pBI 2 commando get up but its even more ok if we think a bit, get in character and imagine you'd been in the hills for months, and you'd probably binned anything unnecessary.

Equally i'll be wearing something like this:

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."

It's a great film as well.

Though when watching it remember that a lot of the allies are locals rather than brits in the film. I think there's about 3 brits at most.

Blancoed is fine, i cant see it coming off that quickly.

The main idea is that obviously you're a long way from the RSM and British standards so making your kit comfier is excusable (like binning anklets)

This game sounds more and more interesting whenever new posts are added. I am extremely exited. :top banana: I do like the Idea of having a civvie shirt for village entering.

now to go and scruffy up the old Commando impression... I am thinking shirt sleeves and Jerkin, a look i have always been fond of.

Wasn't a certain "HALT" sign waver an RSM...?
