just the PIAT then,,,,, we have the mortar.
And the Piat is the one you don't really need, no tanks and such. Now I have to hunt around to find the thread on the mortar...
it was used extensively at husky, might be a few pics in that thread.

PIAT us actually a company asset and not on platoon strengh.
As and when needed platoons were allocated PIAT.
I've seen *some* orbats for airborne that have a 2" mortar in each section but i think its a misprint.

I think, though I am a little out of my element knowing about the paras, that there was no 2 inch mortar in the parachute platoon, but there was one in the airlanding platoon.
never heard tell of one per section, perhaps they had a few spare and thought they would use them, though they they would write it into the paperwork I don't know
Did someone mention Piat? it just so happens.....
Parachute platoons most definitely had 2" mortars. In British use they are more often used for smoke and signaling as the 51mm round is pretty non effectual (the reason the germans discontinued their 50mm mortars)

Yep, the mortar's mine, though this is the only photo i can find of it:
made of steel, and scratchbuilt by myself. It's designed to fire co2 moscarts, which it does quite successfully. The only problem is aiming the damn thing! Yith's got it at the moment, but when i get it back i'm going to knock up a smoke launching adaptor.
I have a video of it firing, If i can figure out how to imbed video in a thread i'll put it on.
otherwise it may have to be a linc to youtube

You can upload video to photobucket I think and then link it in.
Evo... the main problem with it is that you have no idea where the bbs go... once you fire it you never see 'em again!
BTW, had fun at F&O firing it last weekend... made a nice noise... not sure if if hit anyone.... lol

yeah, it needs some more field testing to get the co2 pressure related to the range etc. I think as a smoke launcher it'll be a lot more tactically useful.

Not that I speak with any kind of knowledge on the subject, but firing smoke sounds very useful.
Edited to reflect current rollcall.

If your wanting actual names I would be - Private Armistead (Wladek)
plus there is Mindham who I think has joined? Should have, [Private Mindham (Horus)]
Yeah i'm only putting on names now by request given what happened to Sgt Heide and the almost sacking incident.
Doing brits it should not be an issue but i'm going to respect folks anonymity should they wish it.

edit: tut tut. me bad apostrification. Headshot be angry will.
Hi Gadge , you can put me on the list as Private S.Logan, in view of what happened to Sgt.Heide and the fact that I've got a similar problem it actually helps my defence to be on here.
