Yep, badges are all right just be careful you dont get the 'post war' combined glider and south staffs title.
As rich says unlikely you'll see them under the BD.
Also the printed airborne and pegasus patches were more common , the flet wool sort are not a s usual.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Pegasus do the printed insignia.
Having given all that information it looks like I'll badge for 2 Commando. My mistake, I thought PBI were S. Staffs!
Now, what do I need for 2 Commando badge-wise? I'll need a big green beret I know...

Chommers, I have an Commando officer's cap badge going spare.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Ah cheers Andy - I have one of Yith's cap badges which will do (I ain't a officer in PBI and not looking for promotion
)

PBI are primarily south staffs.
Its just in all our 'field exercises' you'll probbaly never use a BD blouse and your denison as its just too hot, even in winter.
You'd get more use badging it up as commando or better still line inf and line inf dont use denisons.

Okay... the best way to do this is to get the following items.
Get a set of BDs. Badge it up as 2 commando. (requires a pair of combined ops patches and a pair of red on black "No2 Commando" shoulder titles (late pattern).
Get a green commando beret, apply the No2 commando OR cap badge (WITH BLACK FELT BACKING!)
Get a maroon beret, apply the South Staffs cap badge.
Get a Denison Smock.
That sorts you out for No2 Commando and South Staffs.
Add to that 37 pattern webbing, boots, shirt etc... and your sorted.
Optionally also get the following:
Tommy Helmet
Airborne Helmet
Leather Jerkin
Cap comforter.
For Hallamshires just do the following.
Get a GS Cap (with Yorks and Lancs cap badge) (however a tommy helmet would be worn in combat)
Put the Hallamshire's insignia on a piece of serge and sew that over the top of the commando insignia on your BDs. (do it neatly!
)
For Chindit:
Get Jungle greens and a slouch hat
