I've knocked up some repro artwork to print off for Husky
I was thinking of putting a WWII style map of the site inside and distributing it before the game. Should I keep this under British Forces Planning & Organisation or put it out to the general population?
mmm cool...
Its valid for both US and UK and should be discussed with chommers before you do anything at all...
nice, im keeping all the maps from all the games i go to and that would look nice
Here's the first draft map - I need to run it by taffyjohn to make sure it's accurate with regen points etc. but any other design suggestions welcomed. I'll also wait for feedback from our esteemed C.O.
Yeah... please stop working on this.
Its VERY likely that CW already has something like this being made up. Producing a second version without talking to him will just confuse us on the day!
PM'd him.
...
Yes, it's a very good idea - I'll integrate the game map into the booklet so it will make a nice keepsake. (Heh, don't expect any regens marked though!)
Anyone have a Soldier's Guide that we can pinch and adapt the text? I'm sure Yanks were given one when the were sent to the UK - I distinctly remember sections on how different English behaviour is to American. And I'm sure I've read one for continental use too - 'relationships' etc. I haven't found anything by Googling yet and a search of reenactor forums hasn't come up with anything....
Ah, this is what I was thinking of:

And here are some hot tips from the Soldier's Guide to Iraq (1945)
* Don't stare at anyone. Remember the fear of the "evil eye".
* Knock before entering a private house. If a woman answers, wait until she has had time to retire.
* If you see grown men walking hand in hand, ignore it. They are not queer.
* You can usually tell a mosque by its high tower. Keep away from mosques. If you try to enter one, you will be thrown out, probably with a severe beating.
* There are four towns in Iraq which are particularly sacred to the Iraq Moslems: Kerbala, Najaf, Samarra, and Kadhiman. Unless you are ordered to these towns it is advisable to stay away from them.
* Moslems here are divided into two factions something like our division into Catholic and Protestant denominations -- so don't put in your two cents when Iraqis argue about religion.
* There are also political differences in Iraq that have puzzled diplomats and statesmen. You won't help matters any by getting mixed up in them.
