I've got a theory why they are closing it. Nowt to do with "when the hosting ends" and more to do with the VCR Act.

I know Tim (minimiman) quite well. I've also been passed quite a few PM's that went between him and Beaker. Put it this way, what Beaker was saying in public was *not* what he was saying via PM. Given that most people join the forum for the second-hand sales side of it, and that the USUCK head shed know they aint gonna get a secure second hand forum, they are closing the whole damn lot, as they fear a "loss of influence" due to losing second-hand sales.

It's about ego. Pure and simple ego.

There was a load of shit when Ken Elston was Chair of UKASGB. No matter what you think about the UKASGB and Ken's communication, there's absolutely no doubting that his heart was in the right place.

They basically used the forums to discredit him and hang him up to dry then banned his access so he couldn't defend himself!

The man's a 65 year old former Scout leader FFS, he wouldn't hurt a fly!

I also think the very fact that resources like AI, and the various airsoft bodies that now exist have come about despite their continued attempts to discredit anyone and everyone who has stood up to try and organise some sort of resistance to the Governmental raping of civil liberties, has finally made them realise that sitting behind a keyboard in your bedroom at your mum's house does not give you the ability to control the world.

Whilst I'm at it can I also highlight the user called 'Dude'.

He flamed me on a thread once, massively, calling me all sorts of names.

Then he came to Fireball and I introduced myself. Oh dear, I've never seen such a change in character. All smiles and jokes.

Thats Dude.. he's a nice guy in person... I mean that really... but on the forums something just kind of flips inside him!

I've met Beaker several times and also found him to be a nice guy in person.

Morden comes across as an intelligent, verbose, though sometimes misguided, authority on the forums.

In reality I've found him to be an immensely nerdy, stuttering, knuckle-dragging fuckwit devoid of any form of wit, tactical knowledge or social skill.

I've know Morden for years. He used to be alright, but being made a Mod on USUCK has turned him into a class 1 cretin IMHO.

Exactly the same look I got, and I'm not a tank by any stretch of the imagination.

What was nice was that Ken at Fireball had a very polite quiet word with him about his online attitude over a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. Dude looked most uncomfortable for the duration.

There's always been a pattern on USUCK. Stick your head above the parapet, try to do something for the good of Airsoft, and the Humourless Overlords stick their oar in.
