......or does it ?
We discussed a while ago the idea of getting CiA on a more formal basis , perhaps as a club or society . The idea was we could then have a bank account to process monies through , a constitution, maybe some limited form of PLI and other good stuff. At the time it became submerged under concerns over taxation , and the business of organising Arnhem .
Now with the VCR nonsense , and the fact we seem ot be continuing is it worth looking again at formalising CiA ?
Personally I would be for this , I think a proper bank account is a good idea. If we could get PLI cheap then I think that would be a good idea also, because we would then become a recognised reenactor group which may allow us to offer members a way through the current VCR minefield.
Discuss !
Makes sense to look at it from my POV. As it stands, if the person with the moolah is incapacitated due to a serious accident or illness then we'd be up the creek with regards to payments made by players for games.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
See earlier discussion twixt Kermit and me on VCR bill - Kermit is investigating PLI and how 're-enactor' groups organise their affairs. I'd like some information from Yith about how his group is organised although he is on hol at the mo. I might have the chance to raise the question with him and his group at the Victory show.
VCR Act aside, I think we sort of concluded that formalisation might be a good idea but we had managed without it so far and we weren't sure that extra expense way necessary or indeed whether we could recoup the cost.
As you say, the VCR impact is now clear and it seems a defence in law seems a better prospect that defence by regulation - the re-enacters have a better deal. However, as we have discussed before, while it has the potential to give us a 'cast iron' defence to buy RIFs it doesn't make it any easier to import or buy in this country - the same issues apply.
