Anyone know what the score with Andy is?

Well I saw him yesterday... I've had some stuff off him.
Basically he's moving... probably out of the country... just needs to get away and make a clean cut. He didn't want to go into the details why so I didn't press him.
He's selling all his airsoft bits... including all guns and that means also the Vickers...
Oh dear, that doesn't sound good.
I've put an order in for some bits, Ben says I can exchange for cash with you at Haggard - sorry, more stuff to put in the car!

Well I think he's finally decided to knock it in the head. He can't play woodland stuff at all and can only play urban for about an hour before the pain gets too much.
The moving I think opens up other possibilities than just watching DVDs and playing on his console...
I was expecting to have to take stuff down to Haggard for him... in fact I suggested it. Its just odd he got Ben to post the list of stuff... lol.
To be honest i think the bloke has got balls of steel for keeping playing and part of the community for this long.
I think if i'd had been in that much pain and *knew* it was unlikely to get better i would not have been running around UCAP NPCing for us ![]()
Can we organise a get together for him before he goes?

Sounds a good idea , I'd assumed he'd just picked up a load of stuff and was selling it on/ thinning the collection a bit .
Hopefully the "leaving the country" bit is a reaction to something that may die down with time . Hitting 40.....it throws up all sorts of last chance saloon ideas
Agreed but maybe its to a country with a better health care service.
If was a massive 'fuck you' to lose his knees in service of his country then be told he couldnt have replacements for 20 years!
Either way...
as a veteran airsofter, as a former site operator, as a staunch supporter of PBI/CIA and all WWII and themed airsoft.... as a good mate... we should do something.
I can get the 'old angel' for £70 quid if we wanted a saturday night venue til late.
We could possibly get somewhere less grotty but I work with the angel so it would be easy to sort out.
We could hold a big fuck off party for all CiA members but make it in honour of major.
I'm happy to organise it if we can collectively meet the cost, i'm also happy to arrange DJs of different styles and provide the decks for free.

he he.... I'm game for this provided it's in kit !
That wouldnt be an issue actually, i was showing the bar staff my ss article in AI and they thought it was ace.

A PBI/CiA social piss up in honour of Majors (hopefully temporary) absence gets my vote.
cool, let me know what dates would be prefereed and i can try and book the venue unless others have a different venue we can get?

Re dates suggest running this through Andy first ! re dates , Aug would be good .
Mmmmnn, I think we need to 100% up to speed on the whys and wherefores of Andy's decision. If he wants a clean break then this may be the last thing he wants.
I'm not saying a 'do' is not without good intent of course, just that it's clearly a difficult time for Andy at the moment...

I have to agree with Dave here... I think we need to be a little more careful before rushing in.
There are quite possibly some issues we are not aware of.
Kermits trying to get in touch with him ...he's known him longest .
I called in on Andy this afternoon. He is down in the dumps to say the least. Another funeral of one of his army buds coming up. Falling out with F&O. Falling out with benefits office. Knees not looking like they are improving a great deal. His brief liason with an 18 yr old has finished but is seeing a 25 yr old now! He told me the police came to the door last week because someone was concerned that he was suicidal and wasn't answering the door to anyone. Heh, he refused to open the door to the police!
He is going down to Beltring with Andy Clay next week for a day trip and he was re-living good times at WW2 games so all is not lost. He doen't want to lose touch with the WW2 crowd and offered to do prop building or help at games role playing (withing health bounds of course).
I asked him to keep hold of the fallshy trop gear if he could, and invited him to Husky and the November game.
That's about the top and bottom of it - except he was talking of moving to South Africa or Zimbabwe when Mugabwe is kicked out (really, he has friends there) or moving home to Norwich or Scotland where he spent Army time - but he is close to his daughter so I can't see him moving away from her.

Good/ Bad news then !
Hmm
I spoke to him on the haggard weekend and he was ok then (and well up for a leaving party btw).
I might give him a bell just for a chat this week.

Any further word on Andy following the 'accident'?
Strangely he was on the forum briefly at 8.45 last night - or at least someone using his account was...

nothing here.
