Hi Josh
We are having a meeting at the weekend when we are down in Cornwall for a weekender game - easier face to face than by telephone, email or forum, then the next step will be to fix up a meeting with you.
Regards
David Pratt, CiA Organiser

Hi fellas, hope the weekend down south went well. Did you guys manage to chat about a date for me to come up and see you. The event is 6 months away, but I'de love to work with you chaps and get something in concrete. Most of the basic details are already up on the http://www.gunmanairsoft.co.uk Iron Eagle website Hope to hear from you soon.
yours
Josh

Josh will be coming from Cambridge so he will be using the A1 or A14/M1.

The M1 corridor is convinient for me and Guy - trying to think of somewhere on or next to it...

I have tried emailing Josh to confirm this but his emails are bouncing back with a 550 for some reason. I'll try again later.

Josh has sent his draft rules for the November game for our discussion.
http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/pix/IronEagle.doc
Lots to change but the scenario looks good.

Also, for acedemic interest here are the rules for the upcoming Vietnam game that may or may not be of debating interest to us.

Okay, a few points... I'm being picky in some cases...
I'd appreciate these being brought up at the meeting.

- Lose the body armour ... its just not WW2! (yes I know there was some around... but if you give a massive advantage to it then it'll start appearing way too much) I'd also say lose the extra hit for a helmet as well. Though anyone who wears no headgear at all is automatically dead for just not being 40s enough!
- British Uniforms are not OD! They're brown.
- Forget the flags on arms... thats rubbish. It'll make a mockery of anyone who'd bothered to wear a proper uniform.
- Italian/German in OD? wrong again surely?
- Basically his uniform rules are rubbish.
- Needs to mention that internal winder-type mags are okay
- Needs to be made aware that a some guns will be 8mm and hence needs to be more flexible with chronoing.
- Camping in November = bad idea.
- saying the CP is a safe-zone is a bad idea... I can just see people taking their goggles off there...
- can we lose the whole Para thing from the Brits please, they're Airborne! Don't forget the gliders!
- If the brits are all airborne then the brown uniform is also wrong... we should be in denisons and maroon berets as at arnhem.
- has he tried using AEGs in a sandy area? I suspect we'll have massive problems.
- use proper ranks for the Axis troops please.
- Germans should shout "Sani" when wanting a medic. Yanks, "Medic" and Brits "Stretcher Bearer".
- argh! lose any modern camo on the marshalls... lets keep it all period please!
- I have some issues with the scenario as well... what happens if one half of the allies succeeds really quickly, but the other doesn't... do they then have to sit there waiting for the other half to suceed? I think it needs to be more fluid.
- Certainly in the British Army (not sure about the others) a Captain was generally just a 2IC for a unit... really there should be a Major in command of each company level units.

Okay... thats it for me.
To be honest with those uniform rules I'd not bother turning up.

Extra hits for experience or armor is asking for trouble IMO, how do i know if the guy im shooting at is a veteran of the eastern front in armor or a cheating git?

And i agree the uniform rules are a bit lax.

Theres inclusive and theres lazy.

That armour thing is very LARPy and isn't airsoft at all is it. I'm puzzled how cheating works with LARP as it is so full of points and rules that I can't see how anything can be enforced - perhaps it doesn't matter to them what the outcome is? Different world!

For start body armour and helmets should only protect you from grenades hits is anything.

Modern body armour and helmets do not stop high velocity rounds, WWII stuff certainly didn't!

Thats rule needs binning or if anything dropping down to meaning only direct hit grenade kills get you.

Given that the majority of our players just about get the level of roleplay we ask for and a lot just want to run around and shoot stuff i think they will be incredibly frustrated at anything as larp as this.

I'm not agaisnt larp, i used to run bradford vampire and cyberpunk lrp groups for years and have done loads of fantasy larp but i dont think its really waht were doing is it?
