Just a thought if you plan on allowing this into games.

I see from his current posts it is now tipping the scales at 850Kg , which is nearly double the original vehicles weight of 465Kg . The original vehicle is rated to carry a further 450 KG , giving a Gross Vehicle Weight of 915Kg.

The point I am making ?, Although in current format it is within GVW, by the time you've added two 12 stone'ish crew it'll be well over at 1000Kg +.

Ever driven the car carrying too much gear?, speed manoverabilty and most importantly braking are all heavily effected, especially when the base vehicle is probably 15 years old to begin with .

Entirely up to whoever, but I personally would want to see some proper insurance from him first / check out his ability to stop in an emergency before letting him loose.

Since he also admits the turret is not fixed on , if it did roll over, that could come off and injure as well .

Road legal vehicles - yep thats' my belief .

This needs to be brought to F&O's attention... yup!

I'd rather they contact oddball directly though...

Not so much bothered about "road legal", as long as it has liability insurance that can be claimed upon should the worst happen.

Just thinking, how many road-legal vehicles do you see being used at public displays at places like Delting and Beltring that are road legal? The vast majority aren't, but do have liability insurance.

Its not currently part of our varsity plan to my knowledge.

I woudl be a cool addition if safe but the nature of f&o site limits its use somewhat...

Agreed , but most vehicles at shows are used in scripted events and laned areas , well away from MOPs . Airsoft vehicles can go anywhere and everywhere unpredictably . This is the same reason I've argued with Ian against using armour at TA events. He allowed some idiot with a Ferret AC onto TA5.....who then reversed into a stationary Land Rover on the Sunday morning because he could see it / didn't look / had no fucking idea what he was doing. Thank god he didn't reverse over someone with 6 tons plus .

Road legal to me means it's insured, driver is qualified to drive , MOT'd and therefore safety checked to a degree .

BTW I'm not sure that the tracks are a whole set of hazards on their own , IIRC Argocats aren't designed to use them so the effects of steering and braking are unknown .

I've no idea where/ when he plans ot use it , but I for one would not want to allow it beign driven on a CiA game , set dressing ok , moving no .

Agreed. If using in-game vehicles in a non-scripted way there should be someone at front and rear in my opinion. Definitely so if vision is obscured.

Huh?

Vehicles get used at private battles in Re-enactment, and they sure aint scripted! (the overall *idea* may be, but how its pans out isnt) and no, you dont have to have a guy at the front and back. SOP is that the vehicle commander is in constant comms with the driver. Drivers *must* (at least at the events I know of!) have the applicable vehicle licence, and there are set routes that vehicles can take.

It's not a case of someone just jumping into the drivers seat of a Sherman, they must have a class H licence, and they must have a commander keeping watch whilst the vehicle is in motion.

Still, i wouldnt trust Oddballs engineering, for the simple fact that the GVW has increased hugely. SBG's 222's weigh almost the same as a regular Landie, so stability isnt an issue (Ally is used a lot in their construction)

If you want to make it simple and something that cant be argued against, play it like this. They MUST prove that the vehicle has insurance for the purpose its being used for. Bingo. Thats Oddball gone....
