Were looking at running one weekend a month next year dedicated to 2ww at our 2ww airbase in Suffolk. Bit of a haul for some folks as its east anglia but would be more than happy to have you down for training. Sites got woodland, scrubland and a little village of buildings. we use vehicals on site and can do what we like. If you want to come down and dig trenches and fox holes to sleep in all weekend...cool beans!

all the dates next year will be weekends but you can come down for one or both!

Let me know what you think!

I'm not supporting 12 games in Suffolk!

I think its Josh being horrifically unrealistic again.

From years of running events their is a thin line between regular and boring.

As an example the clubnight I run we used to get 150+ in a month every second saturday, we htught twe were n ato a good thing and started going fortnightly as we'd literally be at capacity some months.

Attendance fortnightly dropped to 50ish

When its once a month you go cos its an event and if you misst his one its weeks til you get to go again, if its weekly/fortnightly the tndency is to think 'oh sod it ill go next week, i'll still see everyone'.

Now that was a £5 event but the theory is still sound, if its once every few months its something to look forward to and you dont want to miss it.

Every month and it becomes dull.

Makes no odds to me, our regulars are that- our regulars , all he's putting on is a skirmish in silly kit, it's like his operations weekend , complete misjudging of the market . Plus it's the fecking back end of beyond .
People will go where there mates go TBH .

Josh is toting the Suffolk site for Doughboys training!

In some ways it's good that he is planning on regular WW2 days, it will raise the profile and it will give folk choice. Though it won't be the cash cow I suspect Josh is hoping for, and Gadge is exactly right, attendance will drop off rapidly.

Could it be a sign that WW2 airsoft is maturing?
Gunman & F&O - mass market, low kit spec
CiA - focused, good kit spec
PBI - niche, high kit spec

It was one of the aims of CiA from the start , however now it's happening it feels a little out of control . :? A bit like the explosion of people setting up teams , it's good even if I find it a little unsettling . I'm not worried about it though .

As you say if we/ PBI can be seen as running the Stirling Services level of WWII event I'll be happy. I can't honestly see me doing more than 5 or six WWII games a year , on top of my regular 12 with the Sdn , plus other 24 hour events .

No way I want to schlep down to Suffolk, and certainly can't give over any time to it.

Indeed HS, Gunman is on his own on this venture, though I happy for him to have a forum section and just let him get on with it (like F&O and Warren).

I know what you mean Guy - torn between being delighted that it's taken off but anxious of losing control and splintering all over the place.

Not sure about Rhys's start - I always roll my eyes when I see a new team start allocating ranks, shedloads of 'em been and gone at Phoenix - endless arguements about what kit to wear but they never sort themselves out and actually play together! Anyway, we'll see where it goes.

More worried that Diggah appears to be planning a Russian game - with Jamie?

Nah, done arnhem, plenty more brit battles to do in airborne kit.

Now persoanlly where i think h edoughboy lads wil fall down is that they are tryng to do stuff by committee and *anything* designed by comittee ends up being an bit 'soviet'

YOu end up with soemthing that compromises so much nobody is rreally happy wiht it.

Thats why with PBI we have 'this is how it is' sign up for it or dont, we might get half the numbers but we'll get people moving.

Mmm, see what you mean.
I left it a while before adding my name to his list - I wanted to give them space and see what they came up with, and thought it best not to be too autocratic, much as we did with Stubble. Still, I might be a bit more procative after D-Day but at least they have a visible identity now anyway!

Possibly...Stubble started off the same way with the 9th SS, and then quickly chilled out as he realised most were not that bothered.

IMHO you play in temas because you like the people . I still play as a lowley grunt in the team I joined when I first got into airsoft , if i didn't enjoy the cameraderie i wouldn't bother , same goes for the sites I play at .
I enjoy the mad Gregories take on life and that why I choose ot stick around with them , the 27th Pzrs is a nonsense and plays no real part in that choice.
if doughboys can get together and enjoy playing together, then it'll be a goer , otherwise it'll fade quickly .
Either way , wish them all luck, as long any fall out has no great repercussions .

Well, I know Rhys, Whoswill? and Kavster all get on well.

The only thing people do wrong (and I learnt by making the same mistake) is try to be too prescriptive and restrictive about it all.

Just chill out, get a load of like minded Band of Brothers or SPR fanboys together and go for it. It needs nothing more than that.
