HOW many months did it take to draft that???

I don't see how any of that relates to purchace of RIF, just the use in public of one.
No mention of airsoft at all - does this relate to the reenactors defence, not airsofter's?
What the hell is the purpose of a 3.8cm x 7cm dimension?
Membership of an airsoft site is sufficient defence, no need to have attended skirmish?

I think this means everything is fine!

So i interpret that as good yeah.

We have re-enacting military or police actions as an ok

Airsoft's are RIF's.

As it stands, it's *very* hazy (shit, just look at the "colours" thing!) I know that one of the countries foremost Barristers with regards to Firearms law (and such like) is looking over it - and he thinks there's a fair bit thats going to get changed.

Doesn't mention what proof is acceptable under the act - sellers will be very cautious...

And all that text appears to relate to possesion not purchase, which is odd as possesion wasn't covered by the Act!

Yes of course, but Airsofters were promised a specific defence!

What they seem to be trying to do is roll Airsoft up with Re-enactment to a certain extent.

Repeatedly.

However, to *stop* that, HMG would actually have to admit that legislation really doesn't do fuck all without a decent number of Plod enforcing it.

So, we end up with the VCRA. Very much a case of "must be seen to be doing something!" legislation - even though it wont make the tiniest difference to real criminals....

Personally I do NOT want "Airsoft" to be considered a separate entity from "Realistic Imitation Firearms". The reason why? Well, say you wanted to buy a Hudson PPsH41 to convert to Airsoft, you'd be buggered as an "Airsofter" if you wanted to buy one, but be ok as a "re-enactor" if you did....

Why? The exemption was to allow airsofters to buy RIFs - they was no mention of what the RIFs did, as with the whole Bill, just what they look like. Reenactors and stage/film/TV were already given the OK to buy RIFs, the issue was only with airsofters.

Sorry, i phrased that wrongly. What i dont want is for *us* to get nailed down just to RIF's that are classified as "Airsoft guns"

A little latitude will help us - paricularly in the WW2 Airsoft game - when it comes to building custom kit in the future.

Gotcha.

Strikes me this whole thing is only enforceable by scaring the shit out of retailers with potential prosecution, along the lines of booze and fags sales to minors at the moment (trading standards setting up 'test' purchases using minors as bait) ....

How is that not entrapment?!

Sorry if I've missed something somewhere, but how will private individual sellers be affected?

I've often thought that was entrapment but my local trading standards do it all the time!

Private sellers most certainly are covered by the law - how the hell you enforce it is beyond me, other than PO opening packages, reporting it to Old Bill, Old Bill goes to recipient to check they are bonio fido. Ain't gonna happen, is it!
