Very few people in kit there though, so few they looked silly IMHO.
As said its not a kit show as far as im aware. Only if you're on a stand/diorama.
I just hope they didnt come across as 'the ww2 airsoft scene' to re-enactors and traders there

To be honest, I've always felt a little uncomfortable with The Blaggers. I have a sneaky suspicion that they reenact the SS for all the (very) wrong reasons.

Possibly one of the worst records of murdering women and children and pretty much a 'death squad' more than a combat unit.
"16. SS-Panzergrenadier-Division Reichsführer-SS was formed Nov 1943 when Sturmbrigade Reichsführer-SS was upgraded to a division when volksdeutsche were added to the units.
A kampfgruppe from the division fought the allied landings at Anzio while the rest took part in the occupation of Hungary. It fought in Italy as a unit from May 1944 until being transferred to Hungary Feb 1945.
It surrendered to British forces near Klagenfurt at the end of the war.

On 12 August 1944 an estimated 560 civilians were killed in Sant'Anna di Stazzema by soldiers from
II./SS-Panzergrenadier Regiment 35 commanded by SS-Hauptsturmführer Anton Galler. Ten officers and NCOs were convicted in absentia to life imprisonment for this massacre in 2005.
During anti-partisan operations 29 September until 5 October 1944 soldiers under the command of SS-Sturmbannführer Walter Reder killed an estimated 770 civilians (according to some sources up to 1.800) in the Marzabotto, Monzuno and Grizzana Morandi area. In 2007 17 former soldiers were tried in absentia for the massacre, the largest committed by German troops in Western Europe, ten were sentenced to life imprisonment and seven were acquitted.
This unit was one of those singled out in exhibit UK-66, the British report on "German reprisals for Partisan activities in Italy" at the International Military Tribunal (IMT) war crimes trial at Nuremberg:
Evidence has been found to show that a large number of the atrocities in Italy was committed by the Hermann Goering Parachute Panzer Division. Notable offenders also were 1 Paraschute Division, 16 SS Panzer Grenadier Division and 114 Light Division."

Probably a bit arrogant on my part, but I don't credit any of them with the intelligence to do something like that on purpose. Let's be honest, if they REALLY wanted to upset people, we'd see them in Kaminski or Dirlewanger get-up, or god forbid, pretending to be Einsatzgruppen.

I think they chosse it as a response to the 9th....we're differentdoing our own thing . They also chose a relativbely obscrure unit that was present on Eastern and Western Fronts
and agree ...they are predominatly as daft as a box of frogs..I read nothing into thier choice .
BTW ASFAIK they plan on doing reenacting as well as airsofting , maybe why they chose 16th as no one else does it in the RE scene ?
PS moast of their stuff posted about the history is a direct lift from Wiki / other websites..having done a bit more research looks like they were predominantly on the Western Front which would also make more sense than all the GD impressions we see. Plus i reckon the Tropical Kit swung it in the end !

Tom Gow i know sort of well and hes a nice guy but worse. I've told him via msn about the forum exclusivity remit and said its a *friendly* encouraging site.
Not sure how well the blaggers will take a slagging of a guy who only recently signed up/
Tom is well known on the circuit and really knows his stuff... I'm hoping he gets into our ethos.

Well, Sean is right - chaps in kit did look silly. A militaria fair isn't the place to stomp about in uniform (unless part of display of course).
Still, it won't get out of hand. In fact really they both should have kept their opinions to themselves and I would be quite happy to delete both posts, lock the thread and forget about it...
BTW, at Husky I asked Barratt outright what his job was 'cos I was in the wrong business. Since I put him on the spot he couldn't really say 'feck off' so he replied that he is 'in the security business'. Looking at his size and build I quietly withdrew pondering what 'security' meant.

Nowt we can do about it but my biggest concernis that 16th ss/blaggers will bombburst onto the re-enactment circuit with a potentially dubious unit, blinged up with non of them less than a company sergeant major and in post war vheicles with zero conversion and then...
All the good work we've all done, in particular Yith, will go down the pan as they re-inforce the existing bleief on the circuit that airsofters are walty farby cocks who are not interested in history just dressing up as elite ninja-pirate-death-commandoes.
Dont get me wrong i think the 222 is fucking brilliant (and SBG use a similar one) but VW 181s with a dunkelgelb spray just wont cut it in the living history circuit.
Wicked for airsofting and i'm jelaous i dont have one but if i did I wouldnt be passing it off as a kubel, they'd look better on foot among those in the know.
Cant do anything about it and it may come to nothing but i know in PBI we've been stupidly humble and polite at re-enactment sows and tried to have top notch kit to show wwii airsoft in a really positive light.
Meh, i'm not that bothered, i think its the abused *potential* that bothers me if anything, with the obvious oodles of moolah they have to throw at stuff they could open their own bloody themed site!
