If we do that can we have a set-piece "discussion" over which of us has overall command as they did in Zulu?

If I remember right Caine lost out cos he'd graduated from officer's college a few months after the other guy.

Seniority

Still technically the case

was big thing in national service days too.

The smaller your army number the more in charge you were technically even among privates.

Could we make it a firm rule that the only torches allowed will be regular 3v? drycell type torches? Any sort will do, kiddies ones disguised - modern army angle torches are cheap as chips too.

Nothing will kill the atmosphere more than surefires stabbing into the darkness and lighting the whole place up. I used the crappy german lantern thing and it worked really well (i.e. poorly) but everything was knacked when chaps with LEDs killed my low-light vision. I'd like to keep dark places dark!

Oh! And no torches to be used at all when the red light system is switched on! (For those that don't know, there is a duel light circuit - the white lights can be switched over to red 'emergency alert', very scary!!

Of course, no probs having a modern torch in the pocket for emergency illumination if needed.

I agree too. Can't stand it when I'm trying to do stuff with my natural vision and some twat lights up a torch.

Using bright torches not only effs up your field of vision but also shows your position! Ill be using mine as little as possible and probably with a red filter.

Was planning on using my normal torch , ie good old Rightangle jobbie with the filters inthe bottom .

Will bring the Major's uniform so you can all take the piss on Saturday night , will play in Oberfeldwebel gear which I don't mind getting ragged. Looking forward ot some good 27th Pzr shots.

*The NCO post was as in that's what we've called the role before rather than any impuning of honour, pips etc  *

ISTR that i put up "nothing more powerful than a Surefire 6P" on the original post announcing the event specific rules.

On other things. I couldnt give a monkeys about what rank people are going to wear. I simply do not care about that.

To put it simply:

lets get the game plan sorted then we can argue about other useless crap afterwards

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Yes, I was trying to get over a concept rather than debate voltages - I couldn't think of a useful description!

BTW, photography is impossible down there, in-game anyway. You need stationary players and a tripod - I was using exposures of one and two seconds so very hit and miss at getting a result (and anyone who uses flash will get bollocked by me)!

Did Kermit bollock me just then? How rude!
BTW, what's a Surefire 6P when it's at home? Suspect it's a bright Xenon jobbie!

nah has a standard but rather bright bulb.

Its a 6v modern item... and can blind.

Probably too bright for gameplay, but okay for safety...

BTW, I am considering your game plan Kermit - no instant comeback on it from me but I'll put up a fulsome and considered response after the weekend.

Game plan does looks good to me... I think it just needs fleshing out...

We need a load more detail... need to work out what goes where on the maps... etc...

Timings of things that happen.

How we're going to deal with the lunchbreak...

Regens... locations and how they work

etc...

And all will be dealt with in due course.

David - that wasnt a bollocking

...........you'd know if it was a bollocking. MWHAHAHAHAHAHA

Regarding flashlights. At UCAP I found them a distinct disadvantage to use myself, but an excellent target indicator when the opposition were using them. Oh, and people who like to use 6P's all the time will find out pretty quickly that a fresh set of batteries will only last for 30 minutes on the standard bulb lol
