Anyone know where I can get one of these?? I have looked on ebay but can't seem to find anything.
cheers!
They're much the same as any other european one... I actually use a 39 pattern british one (which is probably rarer than a russian one, but is the closest I have). A german one would probably do fine.
or Austrian, Polish, any number of nations captured e-tools were issued out so it seems.
Odd as you so rarely see them worn.
aka Stigroadie
AFRA
better by design

Yes they were by no means universally issued for much of the war so I wouldn't put them high on your kitlist priorities. Better to get the basics nailed first. Genunine ones are quite hard to find these days too, I'm still looking myself. Beware of Cold war versions being sold as GPW too.
As mentioned many captured examples were used to make up for shortfalls in supply so a German or such would be ok to use. As Yith says the design of most of the square bladed models is close enough pass for Soviet anyway. There are slight differences but some Soviet versions are near identical.

Yes I thought they weren't commonly used, and wasn't planning on getting one that soon.
Thanks though people I can now confidently use a German one
