Hi there guys,
I've been doing Cold War and Vietnam themed games for years but have stayed away from WWII as my interests have been PTO based rather than ETO. A friend of mine mentioned that he'd seen this game advertised and sent me in this direction. I'd love to attend and as soon as I firm up the dates with work I will try to book on with the Marines.
Before I book on, I've got a couple of quick questions I was hoping you could help me with...
1: Any objection if I come to the event as a Seabee? Uniform would either be HBT coveralls or the standard Marine HBTs and the webbing would be the same just slanted towards engineering etc. Helmet with be either a standard M1 (with or without cover) or a grey painted M1 with USN stenciling. Weapon would be either be a shotgun, Thompson or M1 Garand.
2: How long is a gaming day? Birmingham is a 300mile round trip for me and while I'd love to come, I don't want to drive all that way for only 4hrs of gameplay etc.
3: Do we need period camping gear for the Friday night?
I think that's it for the mo. Any other useful tips would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Tom
Hi mate, and welcome. the 34th Infantry put on really good games, so you are in for a treat! Some parts will have loits of action other parts it will be take and hold , but you may not see a single jerry (or in this case jap) for the whole 20 minutes or so.
To answer your questions
1. Im sure it would be ok but its worth checking with cjw957
2. 9-4 9-5 dependant on sun light i would guess, these are normal times for thier games.
3. Again noit normally. If period campinmg gear is enforced there will be 2 seperate area's to pitch up. But again if your worried probaly worth contacting cjw957 directly.
Might see you there!
Stu

ok i will start with point 3 as this may effect it all anyway lol
3) there is no camping what so ever - we will have camping at our weekender but thats the point we still trying to sort for that our one day games no camping
2) game wise should start around the 9.45 mark and finish around the 4-4.15 mark , this one has no lunch break etc folks will just eat between missions etc , i will do a post in a bit explaing how our games work, as they are a tad different to others.
1) Seabee is fine but with m1 with cover (its just to make sides easier to stand out) (even though for this battle they would not have had covers i dont think) any of the 3 guns is fine as long as they can chrono with 0.20 under 360 fps
any other quesions just ask away
Awesome - thank you both for the replies chaps
I must have got the wrong end of the stick regarding Friday - thanks for the heads up. Does mean I'll have to have a thinky about either book-ending the day with a long car journey or finding somewhere cheap to crash out on the Friday night.
Anyhow a big thank you!
Cheers,
Tom
