Yes, I really struggled on that point didn't I.
I think what I meant to say is I have a real life outside WW2 airsoft/reenactment and its just a hobby, as with all of us, apart from Gadge who has nothing else. Apart from disco'ing and little figures. At his age. :giggle:

He really is a self-centred 14 year old still. I'm sure its clear to Pete now why it was just impossible to move forward with Gadge and Yith on board. Funnily enough, thinking back, Gadge had nothing to do with our first game as he was to busy elsewhere but he did book the players in on the day, which was nice! He did have a major input on the second game, Arnhem, and wrote the scenario but was so obsessed with detail and 'accuracy' he forgot all about quality of gaming and making best use of a cracking site. Game ended up as a virtual day-long stand-off. He had no input in Churchills and was then asked to leave afterward. One game he was involved in and he tells everyone he used to run CiA!

I was thinking of suggesting Gadge as the topic for my daughter's psychology course but that will have to wait for the five year Uni course to write out in full. Or one could sum it up in simple Freudian cause and effect - his mother never loved him, poor lad.

Has Gadge calmed down now? Just seen his post about having a hole in his Russian tunic.

Yes, that's an excuse in the making isn't it?

"Oooh, I can't come because you'll see my pale emaciated flesh through the hole in my second favourite fancy dress outfit"

Am I being too harsh?

 Not one bit! I think you're being too kind!

As I'm filling in my 2010 work diary, I've noticed that the PBI "Freshman" game was organised for another weekend where I am working! Too bad I can't make it as a player, eh? I am sooooo glad not to be part of it any more.

:happyclap:

Well, he didn't reply to my last errr reply, so either I have worn him out or he thinks he got the better of me or he is biding his time...

BTW, how on earth did Gadge know we had sorted a tunnel game?
I think this is the crux - had they not rushed into booking UCAP then they would have gone for Kinver, for all the reasons we have. He sees that a new and impressive site will be a big draw for punters, rather than a familiar site.

Of course it is. No idea how he knew we were going underground though.

Is he mates with Tarpey? He asked me where it was in general and I mentioned that it was about 30 minutes from Birmingham so they may have made an assumption from that. I did tell him to keep it to himself though, and he seems pretty genuine.

Well, I assure you that he didn't get the information from me! Drakelow was mentioned at the training day that I ran but only in that F&O had got access to it.

I think that he's just taken a lucky guess. Not that it matters. I bet he's gutted that PBI won't be organising the first WW2 game there. Could you imagine a PBI game at Drakelow? They'd spend half the day tryingto round the players up for the next "game".

I think the only easy way you could run short games there would be in the open day style - everyone back to the safezone on the blast of a whistle, sort of thing.

Well, we proved the short games don't even work at a tiny site like Grange Farm when we took the objective without them knowing. Albeit, as the whistle went....

Probably down to me. For once in his life, he managed to get 2 + 2 = 4.

He phoned me on Thursday to bitch about Rich's intransigence (there's an irony, eh?) and asked me what I was up to at the weekend as I wasn't going to the 'Nam themed thing at Frank & John's site. I just said "er, site recce. Some new place". Given that Jamie had been talking to Monaf about it, and Monaf then of course told everyone I think that Gadge just made an accurate guess. Sorry boys. Meh, next time I'll just say "i'm organising a Roman style orgy" instead.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Dave, you have the patience of a saint, is all I can say! How dare Gadge misquote me! If it weren't for the fact that I don't want to cause any arguments, I'd be on the phone to Gadge right now, telling him what I think of him and his "ex-servicemen".

I think that you're being more than reasonable but you're banging your head against a brick wall. Gadge (and Yith) just will not listen to anything which threatens to shatter their own little worlds and fragile self esteem.

hmmm another therapist in the making?

Following convo with Guy last night he suggested we might additionally bill this as CiA's (slightly belated) 3rd anniversary event, once again with our friends at First and Only. A minor point in the scheme of things but it looks nice to be 'site friendly' and also gives a bit of 'specialness' and not least 'we are still here, providing events for you the punter'.

Yup, good idea.

We have 18 people interested now.

Once I've got the word from Jamie how do you want to play the announcement?

THOUGHT: Do we have to have equal sides? Perhaps a few more Germans would work.

Sounds fine. Also reminds PBI who's been around the longest.

They'll be spread pretty thin to begin with, so it might. If we do a final assault to retake the bunker, it will most definitely help the Germans against an enemy dug in and waiting for them.

Two on the list (Barratt and Outram) will play German - we need the vehicles. Dave was just trying to be helpful to boost the numbers, which was kind of him but I'd discount then from the list!
Bear in mind that if PBI throw a paddy then Yith, Evo and Gareth will be out too...

If Russians have an advantage then uneven numbers can work. The way we used to do in Vietnam was by bringing VC/NVA in in repeated waves with much noise and whistles blowing. This was achieved by 'dying' and returning to close regen so that we could regroup and pile back in another wave whilst GIs struggled with medic rules.

I'm not saying this is how we do it necessarily, just pointing out that rules can be skewed to compensate for fewer players.

Yep.

If PBI do that, it'll make them look like total tits, and I won't hesitate to tell people the reason why they aren't there.

They organised the St Lo game and Dave and I went to that, despite it being so close to Aerial.

Is it worth putting the location into the scrolling text? "F&O's - Drakelow Tunnels"
