Jamie is always like that - babbling away (inaudibly most of the time) and doesn't listen to a word you say!

 Still hard to see where he plucked the figure of 80 players from though. He only had 50 blatfest airsofters there and you'd have expected more with it being a "new" site.

If he wants in on the "CiA scene", he should be a bit more considerate to the fact that our games are higher quality/lower numbers than open day blats.

Why would he want his own marshalls there? They'll just f**k things up. We've got a lot of experienced players, 4 of the organisers have run sites/events prior to CiA as well for Gods' sake. He's basically getting money for nothing.

£1200 is fine - less than Phoenix Urban would have been.

I am more than happy punting this out at £40 a head.

As for H&S - at Autumn Mist even though there were F&O bods in the safezone they never bothered going into the game nor acted as marshals. Indeed, we were the H&S marshals in effect.

In fact, I'd be happy to agree a flat £1200 fee - every player above 30 (paying £40) nets us £40. Forty players = £400, fifty players - £800.

Forget the food if it brings the price down!

As for down payments, I'd go for 50% on booking, the rest BEFORE Christmas (else they just won't turn up on the day and we will be cash down). This would be optional, most will pay up front as usual.
Maybe the best plan is if we have this in reserve and just bring in the option if booking seem slow.

Sorry for my lapse into negativity.

£1200 is, as you've said, is reasonable for such a unique "virgin" site. The idea for a 50% deposit gets my vote as well.

From what he was saying, the marshalls are necessary for fire regs, basically to direct people out of the site.

I don't think he realised that we don't play. i explained that we were glorified COs and that we know exactly what's happening at any point of the proceedings and are directing play accordingly. I also mentioned we were planning a rolling scenario over 6 hours.

I think he basically thought we were mad to run a game with lower numbers. He also couldn't get his head around not formally breaking for lunch, which is obvious if you look at him.

His main beef was that he had to be on site, obviously, meaning that it took him out of running a game at another site, thus doing him out of income there.

50% is an option though. I want payment up front if possible.

I'd put something like: "Given the current economic climate, we are willing to accept payments in installment for people who will struggle to pay the total up front. Please PM Headshot for more details".

My suspicion is that most people's pride will mean they will try to pay up front.

Just noticed (wake up Pete!) that Josh has his Catterick SISK on the calendar for the 23rd/24th of January. I don't think it will impact on our numbers and it'll probably get binned but it should provoke a reaction when we go public with a date.

Yeah, fuck it, let's go up against Josh and PBI.

Seriously, should we reconsider for mid-March?

The trouble with that is that it's still close to the PBI game. It would need to be at the end of March or early April if we moved the date. I'd heard rumours that the Josh/stirling/manning sisk was going to get binned for lack of punters, I don't know if there's any truth in that? If it does get cancelled, then we're in the clear.

Pretty mcuh agree with most of Davids posts on here so assume I'm giving him my proxy vote :giggle:

:lolpanda:

Yes, we delay a month and that give PBI an instant advantage over us, PBI being the first non-Josh game of the year.

Are you sure Josh's event is in January? It was but I thought that all went post-Caen? I certainly can't see a date now...

OK, I'll ring Jamie tomorrow and tell him we want to go for the site at £1200 flat fee (food costs and marshalls pending) and we'll confirm the date soon.

OK, texted Jamie and he's agreed on the site for £1200 flat fee. I've provisionally booked the 23/24 Jan.

I didn't remember correctly and food's not included. He just reiterated that this is a special fee for us as it's our first event there.

I guess beggars can't be choosers in this case and he's got one of the most unique sites in the country!

You have negotiated and have reached a point that is acceptable to all, so that's fine.

Cost of other's games:

Alsos - £25 @ Tuddenham
Freshman - £35 @ UCAP
St Lo - £25 @ Grange Farm
Operation Vengeance - £55 @ Scout camp
Op Epsom - £65 @ Elite, Dorking 'weekender'
Ariel - £30 @ Fearful
Die Glocke - £35 @ UCAP
Mist - £30 @ Bolton
Husky - £45 @ Taffy's 'weekender'
Op Haggard - £50 @ Ground Zero 'weekender'
Arnhem - £40 @ Phoenix Urban

So, to re-open game fee discussion. For the aborted plans for the game we were to hold at new Phoenix Urban we had agreed that we were comfortable with charging £45, although we would prefer to charge the least possible, balancing site fee and expenses against numbers of players.

Here are two proposals. I'm not advocating then, just discussing....

Site fee = £1200.
Charging £40 per player gives us a basic break-even of 30 players.
Open the bookings at 15 players per side (or could be 12 Russian, 18 Germans, say)
Take the option that all game expenses can come out of reserves.
Then incrementally open bookings, every additional player contributes £40 to prop/pyro costs thus diminishing hit on reserves by £40
A final player base of 40 players will mean no hit on reserves at all giving a £400 prop/pyro budget.

Site fee = £1200
Charging £45 per player gives us a basic break-even of 27 players.

Take the option that all game expenses can come out of reserves.
Then incrementally open bookings, every additional player contributes £45 to prop/pyro costs thus diminishing hit on reserves by £40
A final player base of 40 players will mean no hit on reserves at all giving a £600 prop/pyro budget.

In both the above scenarios the worst we can do is lose reserves. The best we can do is add to reserves. Most likely final result is the game paying its own way, the ideal of course.
In other words, it goes tits up and hardly anyone comes then it won't be catastrophic, 40 paying players and the jobs a good 'un.

Personally I think this event can justify £45 and that is where my vote lies - but I won't throw a paddy if another figure is chosen.
